The boss  :bowdown  :bowdown

RAFA: WE DID IT FOR THE FANS
Mark Platt, in Istanbul 26 May 2005
Rafael Benitez basked in the glory of Liverpool's incredible Champions League triumph over AC Milan in Istanbul and insisted 'we did if for the fans'.
Despite being three goals down at the break the Reds fought back in heroic fashion and the boss explains that they couldn't have done it without the help of the vociferous travelling Liverpudlians.

"This is without doubt my biggest night in football," said a beaming Benitez. "At half-time we needed to do something and decided to make some changes. The early goal helped and with the backing of our wonderful supporters we went on from there.

"There is no way we could have went back out and lost by four or five goals in front of them. Once we started thinking and believing we could do it, anything was possible. In extra-time I was very proud of my players."

Congratulations from a Blackburn Rovers fan, this has to go down as the greatest Euro final ever, I thought at half time it was Milan that was gonna win it.

But 3 goals in 6 minutes not only give Liverpool the lift, it  screwed the Italians right up.

And what a performance from Dudek, many times he has been critisised but what a performance tonight, the double save in extra time and his Grobbelaar esque performance for the pens certainley worked.

I hope you get the chance to defended the cup, and this will shut the mancs up as well.

Once again congrats

Greatest game ever. I'm a swede and I have been cheering for Liverpool since I saw my first football game on TV in the early 80's.

Hi from Istanbul,

Congratulations you Liverpool fans, you mostly deserved the trophy. I remember 93 final, werder bremen beat anderlecht 5-3, despite anderlecht scored the first 3 goals. Liverpool's win tonight was the 2nd biggest comeback of CL history, congrats.

Also, what Dudek did on penalty shoot out reminded me of Grobbelaar.

I hope you'll have the chance to defend your title next year. Nevertheless, it won't be forgotten for years.

Thanks.

Gala fan.
