NEWCASTLE VS LIVERPOOL - 24th November 12.45 ko

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby lio » Wed Nov 14, 2007 7:18 am

In the last game, we somehow up the tempo after the 70th min when Babel, Torres were intro and when Lucas finally came in, we were 'The Liverpool’ as should be for the remaining 20mins. In this battle we lost Benayoun (Groin Strain) and we'll be giving him a break.

I’m still a strong believer in:
         -----------------------------------
           NO TO ROTATIONs
         YES TO SUBSTITUTIONs

         -----------------------------------

So my team for this ‘away’ game - a 3 pts for this mission:
                     Reina,
Arbeloa, Hyypia, Carragher, Aurelio,
  Babel, Gerrard, Mascherano, Riise
              Torres, Crouch.
Subs: Martin, Kewell, Lucas, Kuyt, Finnan  / Agger (expected back),

*A plus for us: latest on Sam’s nu team, CD A.Faye is out injured.

Why do people think that Babel will play better on the right?  I don't remember him doing anything great when he played there a few times.

Erm maybe because Pennant and Benayoun are injured just a thought ?

What I mean is that Babel could be ineffective  on the right, there's a reason that he is being played on the  left for Liverpool and for Holland.
Anyway I would go with:

                    Reina

Finnan  Carragher  Hyppia  Arbeloa

Gerrard Mascherano Momo  Aurelio

             Torres Kuyt

Like most have said picking a side at the moment before an international break is pointless but one thing i would say is if Crouch and Gerrard are fit then i would play Crouch alongside Torres.
Newcastle have really been struggling with balls in the air (i am not suggesting we go long ball) but lets give them Crouch who will give them something to worry about and who has previously linked with Gerrard against them really well a couple of times in the past.
This is certainly not an easy game but one we should be taking three points. Lets just hope the players that are playing for there national team can come home fit.
The options on the right are limited so it would have to be Babel imo, i would much prefer Gerrard in the centre alongside Mascherano. Sissoko and Mascherano wouldnt offer nearly enough coming forward.
Alonso isnt likely to be anywhere near ready for this game is he ?

Ah yeah, how did I forget?!??!

Gerrard Lucas Mascherano Kewell

That'd be my midfield minus Yossi.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Prepare for Fat Sam to get his "players" to try and kick us off the field.

Oh, so Joey "thug" Barton was trying to kick the player into touch! Fecknose how the FA can be called a governing body, they allow assault on the pitch to go unpunished because "the officials noticed something was happening".

Odds on oSAMa Bung Laden won't punish the thug internally

Barton is scum but a good player.  Hope he gets punsihed for what he did against etuhu.   Not too bothered which team arfa goes with as long as it gets 3 points.

I have 4 tickets available for this match. As much as it kills me to miss a game, 2 of my mates can't go, and now travel cost are up so can't afford to go either.  If you want the tickets, let me know asap, i go away to Paris on Friday and am not back till the following friday.  (Tickets are of course face value and in the away end)  PM me if ur interested

The FA - did what it says on the 'tin' (FA)

Unless you mean just desserts, just hope it isn't one of our's dishing it out. The obvious stupidity of the FA's inaction is that this will probably carry over to the reverse fixture - what good does the FA think they are doing? The ref missed it - so what? They can do something retrospectively and won't for fear that someone might think less of refs than they already do!

i'm looking forward to this game as it's one of the few aways i go to every year along with boro and this year sunderland, as all three are only just down the road from me anyway. the obvious disadvantage of going to newcastle however is that us away fans are so high up that it's like watching a game of subutteo.
