anybody seen these pics or or these ancient plans?

ha just looked at it close up... ignore this

Those pictures appear to be 4 different stadiums :P

Picture 1 - A concept design to expand Anfield by replacing the main stand, although the picture has been "flipped" in that image.

Picture 2- A photograph of what Anfield looks like at the moment.

Picture 3- The original design of the Stanley Park stadium, which has probably been altered by Hicks and Gillett.

Picture 4- I believe this one is of a stadium in Portugal which shared a similar design to the Stanley Park design.

I dont want a stadium where we expand in the future, thats sh!te, lets construct it right first time. G&H better get there wallets out and wine and dine whoever they need to so that we get our 75k plus stadium. Surely the infrastructure can be improved upon to increase the proposed capacity by 20%. This is when an institution like LFC should throw its considerable weight and influence about.

I just want a stadium that looks unique.

Rather than an Argos stadium that arrives in a box, identical to 20 other stadiums in the world.

I did manage to speak with Rick Parry at the end and he confirmed the following;

The Revised design requires a fresh planning application, to by pass the majority of the delays and objections, the capacity will remain the same, ie 61k, however Parry said the KOP was stunning and it will be around 19k in capacity. The reason why the 61k is the same, is because all the transport infrastructure issues & objections have been looked at & from what I can gather this will allow us to get approval to start building ASAP.

Not wanting to give ammunition to people who object to the ground, Parry went onto say the club may or may not (IMO we will) then put in another application to upgrade the capacity to 66k, while the work is in progress, with a view to completing the stadium on time with 66k capacity, in the same amount of time that they would have completed it with 61k.

I then asked about a upper limit & it appears that the figure mooted was 76k, but this would be dependant on a number of things, including the reopening of the Bootle Branch line & the reserection of the tram scheme, but who knows, maybe with the Yanks help?

There are so many delays and bureaucratic BS that comes with wanting to build a stadium in this country.

You'd honestly think football clubs were asking for permission to build a nuclear power plant.

Poor old Brighton have been waiting for years to build their stadium.

Rick parry is speaking on the ofical site and he says the plans will not be relised for a couple of weeks now.

Why the delay Hicks said about 2 weeks ago that the stadium would be unviled at the 18 of this month. What is it with delays at this club.

I thought the stadium will have the capacity of atleast 80,000 :( Atleast it should be expandable to 80,000+.With the most fanatic supporters i dont think 60,000 would be enough.

The problem with a capacity of 80k on stanley park would come down to a lack of room and access. The big concerns over the 60k capacity ever since the new stadium plans were announced has been the infrastructure in such a residential area not being able to cope with the influx of fans on matchday. The current infrastructure struggles to handle the current 45k that heads in to Anfield. The impression that I'm getting currently is that the infrastructure is capable of being upgraded to handle the extra 15-20k people for the new stadium but to have an 80k capacity ground would require a massive re-developing of the surrounding transport links and could only be carried out at a massive cost which the council wouldn't be able to justify/afford probably.

Had the club gone for a 80k capacity ground then it'd be more economically viable to move to a different location e.g.Speke? where the major transport links are already available. Staying a close to the clubs spiritual home is probably going to limit the ground to around 70k absolute maximum IMO and that is the price that will be paid to stay in Anfield.
