"It wasn't a football reason [why the deal collapsed] and I don't really want to go into it. That's for us as a club really. The bottom line is he hasn't come here for whatever reason and we move on."

"There's no doubt quality will cost you money. We just have to try to ensure we can get quality through the door and that will give us a chance for fourth"

Rodgers first real dig at the owners there.  Fair play to Rodgers for speaking out, its obvious that he is getting annoyed.

Hey mate just out of curiosity do you use an app or something to dictate your responses. I know you had a migraine the other night. Not a criticism just curious. I use Siri and some of the rubbish it comes out with is frightening !!  :D

Trouble troublemaker, yeah
That's your middle name, oh oh oh...
I know you're no good but you're stuck in my brain
And I wanna know...

Why does it feel so good but hurt so bad, oh oh oh?
My mind keeps saying,
"Run as fast as you can"
I say, "I'm done," but then you pull me back, oh oh oh...
I swear you're giving me a heart attack
Troublemaker!

Postby red till i die!! » Fri Aug 23, 2013 1:04 pm

i dont mind that they pulled out of the willian deal seen as he's been shown up for what he is. what i have reservations about is the person that decides the valuation of what the player is worth. it doesnt seem to matter either about the price because we have been under bidding all summer.
sporting want 6 for llori and we bid 3  :glare:  papadopulous was another that we underbid for. we seem to just show up and offer what we think its worth and expect to get the deal done
all they are interested in is cheap players, loan deals, bosman's. this cissokho lad is the only player we signed for competition in the squad and all the rest have been like for like. mignolet for reina, toure for carra, alberto for shelvey, aspas for downing. it isnt good enough for a club of our stature at all and it wont take us into the top 4.

I don't get all the whining which is going on at the moment ,we had 2 quality targets on our radar this past month's ,Makhtarian and Willian ,One went for a CL finalist team and the other is going to Very Deep pockets CL or European football team ,Do you think we can compete money or challenge wise with Dortmund or Chelsea/Spurs? Well I guess yes if we were to splash 40m on those players then they might be landing here ,but would this be the sane thing to do?

BR should ask his "Recruitment team" (AKA useless wnkers) to do a better job finding those deals which we can make.

Them useless w*nkers helped us get Coutinho + Sturridge who are both great additions.
Jury is still out on the summer signings so far.

I'll give them Coutinho the others are pretty much known faces or a huge leap of faith. They could do a lot better ,in fact they have to if we are to take the next step.

We were never going to sign Willian. As soon as another club bid more it was game over for that target. If any of you were seriously thinking that Willian would choose LFC for less money & no CL .....  you need...  :help

While I am not happy with FSG over not backing Rodgers more I won't bitch & moan about them. We could have gone into administration & be forced to sell our trophies on ebay to pay off our debts. I don't exactly remember billionaires queuing up to buy us either.

I thought Henry's strong stance with Suarez might get a few of you onside, fooking hell if it were Stan Kroenke we would have lost Suarez already to any of the top 3 for less than 40 million.

Could Purslow have been right about them

-----

During the sale process to FSG, Purslow sent the following email on 15th September 2010 to his fellow directors Martin Broughton, Ian Ayre and Philip Nash with his concerns about FSG (formerly known as NESV):"To get it straight, I think we should avoid the natural temptation to jump straight in to the deal with NESV (now FSG). Whilst they are charming, intelligent and credible their bid is by any standards at the extreme bottom end of the 'right deal' threshold we set for ourselves: it only reduces debt by less than half and is I feel unlikely to yield incremental equity to fund a stadium."They may say they have money if necessary but I do not take this very seriously. Their eyes only lit up at the idea of other opportunity improvements. An American deal guy simply can't avoid using other people's money if they can."There is no extra money on the table to enable short-term investment in what remains a squad palpably needing more quality if we are to be definitively top four. New American sport team owners with the senior guy being a hedge fund manager could not be worst [sic] from an image standpoint, which is an issue for us independents. I have not even talked about valuation. I leave that to other members of the board."So what is positive? Answer, they exist. Which is not a lot, but it is not to be underestimated in importance... I repeat this is a bottom of the barrel outcome."

There were also mentions of £600mil bids from middle east groups

Purslow added that the board should "double check that none of the possibles who have come and gone in the last 18 months to apparent levels lower than Sharjah but higher than NESV are not there. So I repeat this is a bottom of the barrel outcome."

The email is one of 75,000 that allegedly refer to the sale process, with the Sharjah reference believed to be that of an earlier £600m offer from the Middle East.

You really will bring up any old shight to try and prove your point. That email understandably got Purslow the sack.

Is there the slightest chance of you writing anything positive this season?

Benny -- this is new to me...any idea why we choose not to accept a higher bid from a Middle Eastern investor?

So far I only know Peter Lim (a client of mine) have unsuccessfully bidded 300M for LFC but he wouldn't told me the reason(s) why his bid was rejected
