Internazionale boss Roberto Mancini is insisting that Edgar Davids will not be sold this winter, despite growing speculation that the Dutchman will move on.
Davids has sound himself on the periphery of the Inter team - and although Mancini insists that it is injuries that have cost him his place, the midfielder is believed to be considering his options.
Mancini is not looking for a sale before the end of the month, believing Davids will become a force in the coming months.
"Davids is an Inter player," asserted Mancini.
"He has had frequent fitness problems which is why he has not been playing.
"He was called up for the Bologna game, but had more problems.
"He will be useful in the future."
Despite the coach's statement, Davids could well be a late mover in this transfer window - with a whole host of clubs keen to sign the former Barca loan-star.
Indeed, Liverpool are one of the clubs believed to be watching the situation carefully - with Rafa Benitez keen to add steel to his midfield.

There's no point in signing Davids. Yes, he was one of the best in the world, but he's past his best now, and the fitness issue is just a small part of it. His attitude is legendarily fussy, childish and frustrating. We need younger faces and better personalities, people who want t learn, adapt and then excel in the red shirt. Davids would be a lavish buy, and can we afford to sit in the lap of luxury?

Well, he's shipped out Diao, Alonso's injured, Gerrard's carrying an injury, Biscan's a joke, Hamann's lost it recently, and the Academy graduates have done ****** all to suggest they can step in and do a decent job.

Davids will be 32 in march .If we are serious about rebuilding our team lets not turn LFC into a rest home for players who are only one or two seasons away from retirement.

I agree Woof, however I think there is always room in all the great teams for a couple of older heads.  man U have Roy Keane, Newcastle have Shearer.  In our most succesful season of the last 10 years we had Gary McAllister.  I don't hink Davids is the answer, but I don't think its particulary his age that is the problem.

Keane and Shearer were intergral parts of their respective teams , thay didn't join them in the twilight of their careers . .Everybody points to McAllister when arguing in support of signing older players forgetting that he was the exception rather than the rule .We got very lucky with Gary Mac ,not only did he have the skills he also had the heart ,I wouldn't expect that from every aging player who are looking for a final pay off as their career winds down.

I think that just writing a player off because of his age in our given situation with limited funds is not being thoughtful.

If everyone is right, we shouldn't sign anyone older than 27? Come on.

i wouldnt mind signing him, but a player like that would expect to be in the 11, not warming the bench. He would just guff about playing time for a player of his calibre. He would be the same as if we signed Bellemy with alittle less guff.
