Garcia wants Real ace
by James Pearson -  Last Updated 10 Nov 2004

Liverpool's Luis Garcia believes that Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes is the man to solve the club's goalscoring problems.

The Reds are among the highest scorers in The Premiership, but have netted just once in the two ensuing games following Djibril Cisse's injury.

Cisse is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines following his broken leg and with Morientes out of the first-team picture at Real, Garcia knows who he thinks the club should bring in during the January transfer window.

Morientes, who was loaned to French side Monaco for last season, has started just a handful of games for Real this term behind the likes of Raul, Ronaldo and Michael Owen.

"Now that we do not have Djibril, it is important to bring in a new striker to rotate the squad," said Garcia.

"It would be great to bring in Morientes. It could even be the key to success for us.

"Cisse is a very good player and we'll miss him. It was very hard to see a team-mate crying out in agony and we all feel for him."

Just a thought, but a player (as professional as Garcia anyway) would not go out on a limb and call for a player, if he was not coming. Maybe the deal has been done already, and this is not the first time Garcia says this. Let's hope!
