That team sounds good but i think Garcia will play on the right instead of Kromkamp who will probably come on as a sub late in the game(from the 70th min) if we are leading.

As for crouch,the last time we played ManU in Anfield,Rio had him in his pockets and i would rather Cisse played upfront as the sole striker.

on paper our midfield should dominate possession for long periods of the game. gerrad, alonso, sissoko and kewell is streets ahead of fletcher, smith, scholes and giggs imo. we'll have a lot of the ball so it will be important that we make the most of the chances we create.

i'll be honest, the key will be keeping rooney quiet. if he wasn't playing i'd put my mortgage on us winning this game. nearly everything good that they create goes through rooney.

This would give real strength to the side, and with Crouch, Stevie G, Kewell and Alonso, we have more than enough talent to snatch a goal or two.

If Garcia IS fit, I'd swap him with Kromkamp, then slap Stevie out wide, with Garcia as a support striker.

United will be pumped up for this one, especially after losing to City, but there's nothing we can do about that.   We just have to worry about ourselves and pick the right players and formation for the day.  I think for the first half at least, Benitez willl revert to the 5-man midfield, then depending how the game is going he may push someone else up front as well. 

At the end of the day United need the win more than us, so they will come out to attack, it might make sense to sit back and absorb it in the first half and hit them on the break when we can.  As they tire we can then be a bit more adventurous.

Gerrard, Garcia and Kewell are all pretty flexible in terms of where they play and can do plenty of inter-changing, this could be the key to winning I feel.

Another thing I think you might see in this game is the United midfield trying to wind up Sissoko and get him sent off.  An experienced mananger like Ferguson will certainly have picked up on recent press surrounding Sissoko's disciplinary record, and with the United fans doing their bit to influence the ref (it always happens at Old Trafford), I'm sure Benitez will warn Sissoko to be careful.

All the talk is of our unbeaten run having to come to an end some time, but when was the last time we beat United in the league?  Am I right in saying we've not beaten them in the last 7 league meetings?  It seems like it's been a while anyway, so maybe it's that run that's going to come to an end.

They'd be fired-up to play us, for sure especially as we're so close in the EPL now.

Although their team has not been in top form of late, Rooney and van Horseface are still good players.

I hope we can get a couple of goals and give them a sound beating by passing them off the park. That will give Fergia plenty food for thought.

stevie will play on the right, he always does in away games, and we need sissoko and alonso in the middle. Kewell will terrorise Evra and we will use Cisse up front with couch i think.

I obviously remember that season, but in the last couple of seasons they've had the better of these games.  Mainly, it has to be said, due to blunders by Dudek, but in the games last season they won the midfield battles and earlier this season in a very even game, they created the slightly better chances.

As others have mentioned, Rooney is the worry, he is so dangerous.  I'd go as far as to say when he's on top form he's pretty much unstoppable.  It's not as simple as cutting off his supply either (like with Owen when we played Newcastle), he's good enough to drop into midfield and make things happen himself.  Even if we dominate the midfield this time as expected, it's no guarantee they won't put one or two away with players like Rooney and Van Nistelrooy on the park.  I feel we'll have to take our chances in this game or we'll be punished.

Well you haven't been paying too much attention to our tactical approach this season then mate.

There is not one game we have played this season where our wide midfielders haven't at least swapped flanks for periods of the game.  Gerrard always drifts in games depending on where Benitez instructs him to go, as do Kewell and Garcia.

Giggs' and Scholes' 'experience' will have absolutely no bearing on Benitez deciding to employ this tactic yet again.
