Ridiculous comparing him to the likes of Vieira and Makelele...

Hes not a top player but as someone suggested you dont really need a starting 11 of top players to make a team work... For me, hes good enough to start in the side we currently have but not good enough if we want to go out and win the title given the players we'll most likely rely on to do so (Gerrard in an advanced role and Suarez + Downing + Carroll).. We'll need someone who offers more at both ends and particularly in the defensive side of things...

I have no problems with Lucas keeping it tidy and simple. Playing the short, sideways pass and knowing that it isnt in his job description or his strongest suit doing so.. He's also improved quite a lot defensively but still isnt amongst the best in his position.

All that said, again I think its nonsense criticizing the guy now given the performances hes put out so far this season and the decent season he had last time around... 

Theres certainly something to be noted in us having 2 of our worst seasons with him coming into the side regularly and failing to produce the goods, but atm I feel our expectations of the team as a whole and the players individually need to be a little more realistic..

The amount of abuse our players are receiving from our own fans is shameful.  Take your pick, go into the Adam, Carroll or Henderson threads.  Read the match day threads or even people's opinions on Carra.  (a liverpool legend).  They're all full of negativity. Lucas has transformed as a player.  The huge improvement in his play is obvious to morons, even if not to a few notable posters on here (you know who you are, lad - the American kid who's never watched a Liverpool player live and gets his "football knowledge" from old copies of Roy of the Rovers).  The best is undoubtedly yet to come from Lucas and he never, ever, ever complains, mouths off in the press, acts up over contract negotiations, none of that you get with alot of modern footballers.

Forty years I've been supporting our great club and going to games.  I simply can't believe the idiotic comments coming from some of our 'supporters' (look up the definition - you'll see something in there about being behind your team).

True, this is a forum and should obviously welcome debate and difference of opinion but some posts are getting ridiculous.  Slamming Carroll a few games in to his contract when the guy's doing just fine and could easily become our regular top scorer, a legend, given time ...  Laying into Lucas who, it's fair to say I wasn't keen on in his first couple of years until I started to see the work put in develop his game all round the pitch ... putting the boot into our manager for feck's sake - a legend in the game who has turned the club around in just a few short months with the backing of seemingly great new owners and who WILL win us the Premier league in the next few years  ...   I mean, it's a joke.  So, for you, "only me" and a few more like you, why don't you just pXXss off and support the mancs or even Citeh or whatever bandwagon you can hop on and take your useless, ignorant, idiotic posts with you.

Well, I guess you guys are gonna have to accept that other people dont want to join your 'love in'. Lucas is a steady player at best, he will give 100% & at least one stupid dangerous and needless free kick on the edge of our box every game. He has already reached his pinacle Imho, but guess what? Yet again proving why he's indispensable in the current setup... Was breaking up play AND starting attacks from the back and doing it very well... Hopefully hes not injured and continues to play week in week out.. For me, losing him would be a bigger blow than losing anyone else in the side (bar Suarez)...

One of his best performance i seen from him. If this is the Standard then i will have a lot of appologies to give at the end of the season.
