Graeme Souness, our greatest ever midfielder, also was bought from Boro, if you consider them a lesser club. Definitely at that point in time, noe they are not thet much lesser, only lesser in history and tradition, as their manager has been doing a fantastic job of meking them competitive as well as playing very well.
I think Rafa has enough conviction and bravado (not the foolish type, I believe) to blood and groom youngsters who are promoted from the academy to become the future backbone of the club. Augurs well indeed for the future. This is directly the opposite of houllier who is hell bent on not losing and end up buying players who he himself was afraid to play them let alone give a chance to the youngsters.
nay sayers and detractors keep saying Benithez does not want/care for an English or local core - that is b*ll*x as he just need to get rid of the "hard to mould" senior players and need to get in the players he believes can get us on track in the immediate perios while slowly giving the young guns the necessary exposure to develop further into the senior squad.
