Liverpool eyeing torres

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Ciggy » Wed Oct 06, 2004 8:44 am

I dont know much about him as I only watch prem football, im sure some of you lot know more about him, Liverpool, manure and arsenal are eyeing him up, I have heard of him but dont know anything about him, anyone shed some light on him is he any good?

translated
Fernando Torres is not the only player of the red-and-white staff that has awoke the interest of the large clubs of the Premier League.  The sensational season that is jelling Pablo Ibáñez has situated it in the órbita of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal, three teams that need with urgency a top defender of guarantees.

Up to now, the United is the one that more has shown its letters, since has sent in several occasions to one of its ojeadores al Cauldron to see Pablo.  Ferguson seeks his services to accompany  Rio Ferdinand and more now than Wes Brown has announced that it will not renew with those of Old Trafford.  The Arsenal is found in a similar situation, since next to Sol Campbell alternate the only cumplidor Touré and the vulgar one Cygan.  And in the Liverpool, Benítez does neither have exactly two stars in Hyppia and Carragher although it would see Hypia losing his place.

If Torres is 80% as good as Reyes, then we should consider getting him, although the transfer cost may be prohibitive. I don't know much about him.

Yep exactly in the mould of cisse.
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.

Fernando Torres is a young striker in the Shevchenko mould (powerful and fast) who many in Spain rate as the best of the new wave of young Spanish players coming through. He didn't have a great European Championships, but then neither did any of the other Spanish players.

I had a cousin who was living in Madrid earlier this year for 6 months and he described Torres as a terrific player.

I doubt he'll ever come to Liverpool as apparently Chelsea had a £28m bid for him rejected in the summer of 2003.

Roman Abramovich made an objective a year ago: to file Fernando Torres to Chelsea. Though all of his attempts were rejected by the Atleti, the Russian tycoon still doesn't give up. His last supply is 35 million euro plus Mutu, but the response of Atletico is always the same: a refusal of selling Fernando, nor consider to sell the Spanish star.

The intention of Abramovich was to incorporate Fernando immediately. In spite of his continuous investment in reputable forwards, Iceland captain Gudjohnson still ends up being the starter of Chelsea.

The 25-year-old Rumanian forward, Mutu, wanted to leave London since he had almost no minute to play in Chelsea. After marking 17 goals in 31 parties in Parma, he only scored 6 in 25 parties in the Premier League. But if Mutu was transferred to Atletico de Madrid, they would want Mutu as Fernando's companion, but not a substitute

(i forgot the source)

torres is apparently the 'golden boy' of spanish football now.

If the commentators of the spanish league broadcasts here are to be believed, he is to ath.madrid what Raul is to Real.

Don't think A.M will sell him.
Bound to be massive protests from the fans if they even contemplated the idea. :)

Torres, fast, pacy, like Cisse.  Captain of AM.  New golden boy of Spain, everyone raves about him.  He'll costa packet!  Can't see how we would be able to afford him, he'll go for £M's.
