Kewell - You're a disgrace

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby stmichael » Sun Mar 14, 2004 7:49 pm

don't get me wrong. i'm the biggest liverpool fan on the face of the planet and will support them from here to hell and back. but when i see kewell diving again (as against yeovil) to win a penalty because we can't break down southampton it's an absolute disgrace. considering the dignity and pride this club has always been associated with, this sort of behaviour should not be tolerated by even the most ardent liverpool fan. surely we're better than that. then again, maybe not.

I think that's unfair, Kewell was tugged outside the box it was the ref who made the mistake not Kewell.  It may look blatant on the telly but when players are bursting forward at pace even the slighest glance can cause a tumble.  I don't understand why so many people on this site are blaming the players GH Is the manager and he's utimately responsible for this defeat.

Come on. Lets not criticize kewell. He did not have a good game, but he worked his ***** off. He was tripped (although outsidde the penalty box). The crime is missing the penalty. Looking at how the other results had gone, a draw would have been a ok result.

I thought he was superb and looked the most likely to cause problems with his running and dribbling. Showed good vision and technique to play Owen and Gerrard in.

He didn't dive today... i think in all honesty he thought he'd lost the ball so he over streched and just fell under the pressure from the defender. So why not claim?

When i play football i claim for everything... even if i know its boll##ks. Coz that one time u might influence the refs decision.

It wasn't a foul... but i don't think it was a dive either.

I think Kewell is brilliant!
we just have to accept the refs decision when it goes for us...like we do when it goes against us

I don't think Kewell dove at all, there was contact made and he stumbled then he went down. It was unfortunate that the referee saw him fall in the box, but did'nt see were the initial contact had been made.

On another note, why was Owen even allowed to take that penalty?

Owen look's like he doesn't want to be here, alway's had his head down nad didn't even try going for ball's put across the box...and that open net, what more does he want?

Kewell is on £70k a week, Owen is on £70k a week Dudek is on £40-50k a week !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Henry is on £70k a week, Viera is on £70k a week, Pirez is on £50k a week - we wonder were our problem lies, not Kewell's fault, not Cherou's fault, not Diouf's fault, not Heskey's fault, not Biscan's fault but who brought them all together!!!

well we did break down the defence, our lack of finishing let us down.

I fully support Kewell for giving it his all, I dont think he's a disgrace at all, I completely and utterly disagree with you.

Kewell was a good signing for Houllier and he's doing ok, but even he admits (I saw him give an interview the other week) that he is miles off his best form.

Don't forget that in 1999, 2000 and 2001 Kewell was one of the best players in Europe: his displays for Leeds when they got to the CL semi finals was awesome.

Like everyone else at Leeds Kewell's form then dipped dramatically and he has not yet returned to his best form.

On current form Kewell is a good player, but if he plays at his best he's certainly up there with Duff and Pires, no doubt about that.

Kewell is class and gives us that penetrative influence that we need and need more of from the rest of  our so called "gem" players.

Kewell is a good player who would be great if he was in a great team. Unfortunately he is playing in a poor team with a manger who is unable to get the best out of him.

He joined the wrong club.
