i'd put him in my top three liverpool centre halves of all time, and considering some of the centre halves we've had, that's some recognition.

absolute legend. i love the man!

top three...that's pushing it IMO.

top ten definately and the best we've had in the Premiership (behind Carra). I wouldn't put Sami ahead of Hansen or Carra but he's certainly in the top ten of best centre halves.

For me he's also in the top ten centre halves to ever grace the Premeirship and certainly the best from abraod.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

How highly do I rate Sami Hyypia?

6 foot 4. Sorry... :D

He's amazing, for the amount of money he cost I think it would be hard to argue against him being the best overseas purchase in PL history.

Last season I really felt that he was past it but this season, with the injury problems Agger has experienced, he's been invaluable.

If ever a player was worthy of a testimonial it's that man. Legend!

Sammi is deffo up there in the top ten of the clubs best defenders of all time. Admittedly he's shown his age at times but that can't detract from the colossus that has been Sami Hyypia in our defence for the pas decade.

sorry but sami is a much better centre back than carragher

carragher makes up for his lack of positional sense with last ditch tackles

sami is in the right place in the first place.

best centre back in the premiership of the past 10 years = sami because of the consistency he has maintained.

I have never seen a centre back that would command the air the way that Hyypia does.  Any ball played up high and Hyypia just seems to read the path of the ball and snuff it out.  As a tall centre back myself (with mediocre acceleration) I always tried to emulate his play.

Really have not been around long enough to talk about all time but he has been absolutely outstanding for as long as I can remember.

He's an absolute champion. End of story. Towering defender who can hold his own against any striker in the world.

Every match I say " great, we are going to get skinned at the back " (regarding his pace) but he always manages to make attacks look ordinary, he gets stuck in and never looks like he will give up, never. Doesn't matter who he is against, sure he may be slower against some but they are going to have to work their socks off to get a chance.

I think we can all agree he has firmly secured his status as a legend. That goal against Juve in '05 kinda sealed it for me already, but every match since he hasn't looked the liability that I anticipated, and if anything, I am thankful we have him as an option.  I think it would be fantastic if we could win the title before he leaves because he deserves to have every title possible under his belt.
" Some people say football is a matter of life and death, I don't like this attitude, I can assure them, its much more serious then that "

it'd be a fitting end to his Liverpool career if we could win the league next year. give him a full trophy case of.
