Baros is a failure because his main job is to score and he has been miserly at that, unless he has another job...like Drogba, who is tasked at attacking and defending from the front.

If I were Maurinho, I wouldn't consider Drogba as a failure because he terrorises the opposition with his presence and does his share of the defensive work by closing down the opposition when Chelsea loses possession and also does his bit in scoring and assisting. In the process of playing this style, Drogba makes the time and space for people like Lampard, Duff, Robben and Cole to steal shots at goal.

Bottom line, Baros has to go.
Baros only has to attack and he loses the ball far too easily or cause attacking moves to break down because of his head down and no awareness style of play. He needs a slower league or needs a freak of nature like partner like Jan Koller to outmuscle the opposition and make space for him.

Another thing is why Benithez seemed hell bent on getting Crouch when most of the forum members do not think much of him here.

Benithez is a person who like to have many options. Cisse can play in the centre or wide right. That bl**dy Kewell can play in a number of position (he is utter sh!te to me but Benithez seem to want to give him another chance as he is skillful). Crouch will give aerial presence that Baros can never give and this beanpole Crouch has shown some good touchs on the ball last season (dare I say better than Baros?). Benithez will play different players differently to negate/respond to the strengths of different opponents.

Sadly, Baros does not offer any kind of workable options other than the way he usually plays.

Although Baros do not score much, i still like him for his work rate on the pitch. He seems to be the only forward here who bothers to throw in tackles in front, but of cos we still want someone who can score.

i agree but you have to take into consideration the events which occurred...

1)He was playing up-front on his own.
2)Lets face it, the support from our midfield was woeful
3)He was injured....and then rushed back from his injury.
4)Ppl keep mentioning he scored 13 goals...but how many goals was he involved in. He always created spaces by pulling defenders away.
5)getting dropped to a unfit morientas (in league cup)....what will that do to your confidence
6)whats all this sh1t about baros playing for himself...did baros confide in you or something....

Some people are willing to give morientas more time (even though he has been here for more than 6 months) which i agree too.

Then they go ahead and call him world class (based on what ? He is not even in the spain's 1st team). But when baros averages a goal every 2 games for czech republic, he is a headless chicken

I hope to god that morientas scores a lot of goals....but i can't see it happening. If we sell baros, we better buy someone good.......(i do not mean crouch).

1) Scums - RVN, Rooney, Smith, Saha
2) Arsenal - Henry, Berkamp, Van persie, (should get a top striker with viera money)
3)Chelsea - Drogba, gudjonsen, crespo, duff

And then us

4)Liverpool - Cisse, Morientas, Crouch, sinama, mellor

I can only safe that Cisse is a safe bet....the others will not even be in the scums, arsenal or chelsea team.

I basically agree with you and must applaud your willigness to go against the grain. Anytime the Baros discussion comes up here, all I hear is doesn't look up, headless chicken, complains, and same all same all. Frankly, all of these are exagurations. I can see how people create rumors, legends, and similar nonsense. It's all talk talk talk. For instance: Having read pretty much all of Baros's quotes in the Czech press and their subsequent translations into English, Baros complained once! Once. The rest is the creation of this board and the ever-crafty spin of the media who just love a contraversy. And since some here hate Baros, they make him up into a constant, unhappy complainer. Same with the headless chicken nonsense. Anytime Baros passes the ball, everyone closes their eyes. He misses or doesn't pass, Stu and company pounces. All of our strikers loose the ball when they try to burn the defenders. Cisse runs to the goal line much like Baros (he has only done less of it in total because he has been injured) and Morientes and Le Tallec have done their share lately - but everyone is still quiet on them. This is actually hilarious. People simply want to see a striker score on every shot, make every pass, never loose the ball. They give a player a certain time, and than decide to scream foul that it is time to get someone new ... someone knew to complain about (and note, the Morientes bashing is already beginning!) The only reason Cisse has not been trashed is because he has been injured (although I do remember people were beginning to doubt him already prior to his injury). Mark my words, in a few months, people will be screaming to have Cisse benched and Owen back or something similarly idiotic. 

The fact of the matter is, Baros has been in a slamp, but so what. Every striker has. And don't give me this Baros has his chance cra--ap. He is in his early 20s. What chance are you talking about? The siting on the banch.

Personally: 1. Bruckner would not play Baros if Baros wasn't worth playing. 2.  None of the other strikers we have are better. (Cisse might be but who knows this early in the season what will become of him) 3. I don't see a replacement in sight.

If we don't trust Baros, fine, get rid of him. Just mark my words, you will not be happier.

Before the Euro 2004, no one talks about Baros as being class. It was only after that people said he is class after he had a good tournament. If not for the tournament, Rafa would have sold Baros already. He gave him another year to prove himself. It wasn't just about scoring but he needed to improve in other area such as awareness and how to play with the team. Unfortunately, I did not see any significant improvement. To me, its the same old Baros we are talking about here. Baros might become a potent scorer for somebody else and people would say I told you so and we should've kept him. But the fact is he simply not fitted with the style of the team. Heck, he might not even be suited to play in EPL. I wouldn;t  be surprised if Baros score tons of goals in Spain as it's the kind of league that he can excel.

Right on money i think about what Rafa likes, ones of reasons i think Traroe got his 4 year deal

If Baros does leave its really for me to do more with attitude then his goal scoring drought.
Too many historoincs and while you may admire his honestly in about what he wants his career, he aint ever going to get a job in the diplomatic corp
Besides he is one player who could be shipped out for decent return at transfer table
Good luck to Dudek if he does go as well , though his CL final heroics cant mask too many blunders during the season

Either that or Rafa is looking for suitors and doesnt want him cup-tied.  But you're thinking along the same lines as me.  Baros frustrates me enormously, at times he can look like the real deal and other time he looks... well suffice to say he looks poor.

I've been reading the Mirror this morning and it says that we are unloading Baros and Dudek to fund a move for Crouch. That's got to be the most stupid plan i've ever heard. Now don't get me wrong, i'm not going to start slagging off Benitez, but I feel I'm entitled to question his actions, and question I shall. Baros has just one problem which has already been mentioned here, and that is that he doesn't lift his head up. I know that we all know this, but has anyone ACTUALLY told Milan? What if he goes to another club like Villa, for £5m and the coaches there say to him "why don't you look up, you might have a bit more success?" and on the back of this advice he nets them thirty goals in his first season. His value trebles, he attracts good players to villa who go on to nick 4th spot from us because we bought Peter Crouch for £8.5m who scored 10 goals and got concussion three times from running into the crossbar. Now this is of course purely hyperthetical, but it could happen. He's still a young player and he still possesses the ability to learn. I think it would be foolish to let go of a young talent like Baros who has so much skill on the ball, terrorises defences and can still learn, for the sake of Peter Crouch.

As for Dudek, if I'm being honest, I've wanted rid of him for the past two seasons. I know that after THAT night we were all telling Benitez to give £100, 000 a week, and telling Parry and Moores to re-name a stand for him, but his wobbly, disappointing past cannot be corrected by one night of glory. He can't command an area, he can't release quickly and his technique is, at best, questionable. His soft punches and weak blocks have cost us too much. I will never understand why Houllier got rid of Westavald (here's a little tip for keepers - the best ones can always kick the furthest; kahn, schmichel, seaman, buffon and Cech, just check. Westervald had one that could easily beat that lot and look what happened as soon as he left us.). Also, Reina and Carson seem very confident, which dear old Jerzy has never seemed. If we can get £3m for him, I'd take it and use it to help with the defensive search.

Therefore, in my most humble of opinions, I would hold on to Baros for one more season at least (especially if Nando is going to be a bit of a slow starter) but discard Dudek for whatever we can get. At least now we will always remember him for Istanbul and not his shaky, agonising league form. But Crouch? I'd rather see him at West Ham, although if we go by the same rational that I applied to Baros leaving, he may well go on and score 30 for them. So once again, I'll put my faith in Rafa, and luckily for me, he rarely dissapoints.

Baros please stay. He was the best striker for us last season. He has better attitude and more hardworking than Cisse ON THE PITCH. He does not run slower than Cisse. He does not finish worse than Moro.

I'm sure that one of our quality coaches will have said a bit more to Baros about lifting his head up!!!!!
If that was all it took, then everyplayer we've got wil be world class in no time!!!
