Cisse - New nunber 9?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

just wandered that if cisse does come to anfield, whether you would give him the coveted number 9 shirt or not? diouf isn't fit to wear the shirt imo considering the greats who have worn it in the past. what do u reckon?

The only way he'll get it is if Diouf leaves in the summer. So let's hope he get the number 9 shirt.

Personally I think he'll wear 12

Not necessarily CKAY, Smicer used to wear the number seven shirt, and he gave it up and took the 11 so that Harry Kewell could wear the famous King Kenny's shirt.

it's fine saying that certain players need to go but the question is who is going to want them?

players such as henchoz could still offer a lot to many european teams. i think the pace of the premiership is getting on top of him now. no doubt diouf could move back to france (where he actually scored goals), but if we get half of what we paid for him we'll be lucky.

as for heskey, smicer, traore, biscan, diao, cheyrou- who is seriously going to want them? no doubt real madrid will be after cheyrou to replace the old zidane when he retires. :D

HESKEY TO BIRMINGHAM OR BORO, TRAORE DIAO VIGNAL AND DIOUF TO FRANCE, I WOULD BE OVER THE MOON IF WE EVEN GOT RID OF THEM FIVE WASTERS AND HELD ONTO CHEYROU AND BISCAN, AT LEAST SOME OF THE DEAD WOOD WOULD BE GONE!

Am i the only person who thinks Cheyrou may have the slightest bit of skill? Ok a massive clearout is needed. Id say ship out Diao, Heskey, Vignal and Traore. Maybe even Owen if his heart isn't in it.
then we can buy cisse, Dawson at centreback and a nippy midfielder. A few years back i wanetd Guardiola, but now id take Mendietta in a heartbeat, the guys always been a personal favourite.. Also, what exactly is gonna happen with figo? Would we want him in some kind of pay exchange with owen if he goes? Like i always say... i dunno :D

figo's the most overrated player in world football imo. he's about 32 isn't he aswell? agree about mendieta. he's top class. as for cheyrou, he may have some skill but he's hardly the guy who's gonna take us to the next level. if you're gonna keep him someone please tell foolier that he isn't a wide player.

I agree with you Dawson. I think Cheyrou shold be given a chance. Put him in instead off hamann for the first six games next season maybe.

hamann. great player, great servant to this club, but it's time for him to move on. i think hargreaves could be an ideal replacement for him next season. gerrard needs a more creative midfielder alongside him, especially at home. we missed out on scott parker big time.

Hargreaves is a great shout. I been saying everywhere id like Mendietta but as long as we get someone who wants t play, im happy. RE: Cisse saying champions league isnt important means he wants to play for us, no matter how pants we are right now :P

But the flip side of Ciise is that he said he will only come if GH is still manager. How'd committed is he?

I like Hargreaves but we have enough water carriers at the club (although Hargreaves is a greta water carrier) and I would prefer to see some real creativity brought into the side.
