Brett emerton - Should we make a serious bid?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I like this guy, he would be a great signing on our right wing. He does get critisised sometimes for being incosistant but that can be changed. His pace, workrate, dribbling, determenation and skill is pheonomanal and can score the odd goal or to. I think he'd would be a good signing on our right wing where we seriously need look for someone. What do you say guys? two aussies on our wings? :)

i like him, he has talent, but seems alittle to much like kewell.
when he wants to play he can.
but all to often he fades away, again like kewell
so the price is what would answer that question
and i don't think he would come to cheap
so i would have to say NO, look else where

My honest opinion is - this lad is Sh*t
Nothing like Kewell (well a fit & match winning Kewell)
he plays like Kewell does at the moment - ineffectual
(actually a bit harsh on Harry - he's been doing marginally better the last few games)
Definitely do not go for Bret Emerton - he's average
We've had enough of buying average PANIC BUYING to last us a lifetime

Everton are after him in january, we dont want to buy players that they are intrested in anyway :D
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Agreed. Let Everton have him. I hounestly believe that Emerton is nowhere near the quality of wingers discussed earlier on this forum, like SWP and Duff. With Kewell, Nunez, Garcia, Riise, Finnan and Warnock as alternatives on the wings, I cannot see why we should sign another "decent" player in that position. Another midfield signing should, imo, be world class coming as a bargain, if not I think we should spend our money on strikers and defenders

well said Addicted Norwegian
we need a quality Centre half & Striker
then after that - assess how the wing backs are doing
the midfield has almost sorted itself out

Emerton would be a nice addition to our side. He is still young and he is not very expensive. He is also hard working, at least in comparison with a certain H Kewell. Emerton is a LOT better than Kewell + Smicer and a little better than Garcia. Kewell is overrated, and I do not believe in him at all. If possible we should sell him. Kewell has £ 65.000 a week and no team in the world will pay him anywhere near that amount so most likely we are forced to keep him until his contract expires. But as I have said before, we need some defenders and a striker first....

I agree we don't need average players because we don't want to be an average club...Emerton has set the priemiership alight like Duff did at Blackburn

Emerton and Cahill were quite good in the aussie match vs Norway on Craven last nite. I think Cahill is a man for the future - good pace, technical scills and endurance and comitted.

His best position is right back and he hardly ever plays there. He's a superb player in my opinion and i'd certainly have him. He's very similar to Riise, i think a bit better, wouldn't mind seeing him on the right side of our defence. He can also play in midfield and he's better than anything else we currently have on the right hand side.
