Pick the player you think will add the most value to the team IF we sign them this transfer period.

My pick will be Mata, young, looks like a real quality player, nice passes, can score goals, speed is on his side. If he can play for Spain I think he is good enough for us.

Agree with KillerP with Mata getting my vote. Width has to be our priority and this guy looks the business!

Juan Mata as well. but if one is talking abut versatility, NZogbia gets my vote as he can play on the left wing and left back as well which happens to be 2 of the most problematic areas we've yet to rectify for a very long time.

I feel N'Zogbia doesn't play for his team as much as himself.  he's talented and can play in both spots, but he's not as talented as other wingers.

Mata also gets my vote, as I've been dreaming to sign him for the last couple season.  Amazing player.  Considering Valencia lost David Villa and Silva, and he still manages 8 goals and 12 assists... He can do great for anybody.

We need to go after him with all we have.  If we only made 1 more signing the summer and it was him, I'd be happy with our transfers to be perfectly honest.

N'Zogbia, can play left, right or behind a front man, scores goals, creates goals and is settled in the UK and Premier League.

Haven't seen enough of Mata to judge.

Mata looks brilliant to be fair, again though he's not an out and out winger from what I've seen.  Signing him will not solve our problem with width, that's got to be considered before we spend, or try to spend, a large portion of our transfer budget on him.

Mata is quality, but I agree with a lot on here that he isn't an out and out winger because he usually drifts into the center. If we do get end up getting Downing and Mata it would be great.

Where would Mata play? Is he a Luis Garcia type?
At times we struggled to accomodate Luis in the team and also had similar problems when we had Littmanen.

He strikes me in what little I have seen to be a Modric kind of player, but the midfield has to be balanced properly to accomodate this type of flair player.

I chose N'Zogbia because I feel we need a dedicated wide player, and he can be used on both flanks.

I think kenny will opt for a 4-3-3 with 4-4-2 as an option. Mata doesn’t really fit in to these but what would work extremely well for mata (and suarez) is this:

                                 Reina

                     Carra     Kelly     Agger

  Johnson                    Lucas                      LWB

                                Gerrard
                  Mata                     Suraez
                                Carroll

With Johnson and a new LB given licence (and encouraged) to get down the flanks as much as possible to provide width. As well as Suarez and Mata drifting out when they need to

I don’t think we’ll see 3 at the back very often, but that’s a great way to accommodate and get the best out of Suarez and Mata

I voted Mata but I was very tempted to vote one of the defensive players listed there.

Mata would provide us with a little more width - not 100% convinced he's an out and out winger but it's also a name that should signal our intent to everyone else watching on

Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
