2011/12 starting xi

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Staring XI (inc subs) ideas -

Rules -

Only confirmed signings please, no speculation.

Strongest XI as a team, not strongest XI individuals (no accommodating players out of position).

                      Reina

Kelly     Carragher     Agger     Johnson

                      Lucas
           Gerrard           Meireles

Kuyt                                        Suarez
                     Carroll

Subs: Jones, Skrtel, Aurelio, Henderson, Cole, Rodriguez, Aquilani/Spearing.

I think this works well both home and away. 4-3-3 at home (Kuyt and Suarez pushing up), 4-5-1 away.

-------------------------Reina

              Kelly     Carra     Agger

Flanagan                                    Johnson

             Gerrard  Lucas  Henderson

                     Kuyt    Suarez

Subs: Gulasci, Skrtel, Meireles, Spearing, Cole, Sterling and Carroll

i feel the best strike partnership we have is of Kuyt and Suarez.

I'm more leaning towards SCS's line up but I reckon Kenny might swap Dirk for Hendo.

Its bloody hard to do though without speculating at all...
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Ya if I fill this out it will just depress me and put down my hopes that we will have a few new talents next year :D

I'd hope SCS's lineup is one we could play tho. Maypax's works against the bigger clubs, but SCS's is one we would use more often and hopefully with more confidence.

I'll also be very upset if our 35million pound man doesn't become an every day starter who is considered one of the better players at the club.

I see Hendo replacing Meireles

same lineup as SCS but Hendo getting the nod over Meireles

-----------------Reina---------------

           Carragher     Skrtl
Flanagan                               Johnson
                     Agger
          Lucas             Meireles

                    Gerrard

           Kuyt                Suarez

Would love it if Andy could fit into it but he hasn't proved his worth yet. The he would feature as a central striker/target. Get the ball to Agger as soon as possible. Flanagan and Johnson bombing down the wings. Works against both small and big clubs.

As an enforcer we bring back.

SCS this game isn't very fun as we all know there are still a few pieces of the puzzle yet to come. But I like that lineup still. Now I know this may not go down well with some here, but I would drop Kuyt for Henderson.

I know he played in the middle to cover for Cattermole but I think out wide he could do more damage going forward than Kuyt. Kuyt, if you watch him often he looks for a sideways pass rather than taking players on and bombing forward all the time. Plus im not a statto or anything but I read somewhere that Hendo was something like 3rd highest chance creator last season. We have 2 new strikers so plenty of chances would go down nicely.

Just my 2 satang.

Isn't this about 2 months too early for this? It has been stated that we are going to sign 7 or 8 players this summer. Let's see who else we bring in first  :)

scs's lineup is pretty much the strongest team we could field atm.
i agree with tubby though and drop kuyt for henderson on the wing.dirk is limited in that role where as henderson had a fantastic season with sunderland and should he be able to replicate and improve on that form then carroll will have a field day with the chances he creates.id really be surprised if dirk starts the season at rm.

The thread can evolve as signings are confirmed. Something to discuss at least

Reina

         Kelly     Carra     Agger   Johnson

                         Lucas

           Kuyt       Gerrard     Meireles

                   Suarez      Carroll

Subs: Gulasci, Skrtel, Henderson, Spearing, Marveaux, Flanaghan

This is the best all round formation I can come up with. Henderson does not make the first team as he is still unproven in my eyes. If Meireles departs then Henderson will take his spot.

Is it only me that thinks Kelly is much more one sided in his game then Flanagan? He is a bigger lad but that's about it.
