Best foreign eleven - Of all time

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby ste123lfc » Tue Jul 03, 2007 6:51 pm

Don't know if this has been done before but it should open up some debate.
The best all time foreign eleven to have ever graced the Liverpool shirt. No players from Britain or Ireland included.

This is mine

Reina
Babble
Hyypia
Hysen
Riise
Sissoko
Hamann
Alonso
Molby
Litmanen
Kuyt

Subs
Grobbelaar
Henchoz
Berger
Riedle
Macherano

Sean Dundee  :D  :D
From Shankly to Brendan we follow our team, Rome to Istanbul we've all lived the dream. Our journey is long, our goal stays the same, to keep for our children the famous red name.

Four centre midfielders? I would Torres instead of Kuyt even though he hasn't played a game yet :D

I would have to play a couple of midfielders out of place. The reason no Torres in the side is that he has not graced the shirt yet.

GK - Schmeichel (During the Cantona reign, I still believe this lad won more for them then that french seagull praising :censored: ! )
DR - Steve Nicol ( Not foreign but scottish, and im english so hes foreign in this debate! )
DL - Avi Cohen ( When he scored that own goal then made it his mission to score one at the other end )
DC - Frank De Boer ( Great defender who boasted a hell of a free kick when it warranted )
DC - Paulo Maldini ( Still going strong and the most consistent defender )
MR - Andrei Kanchelskis ( Although he played for the scum, I just liked his directness when he got the ball )
ML - John Barnes ( Although played for england, he was born in jamaica so that makes him foreign ! )
MC - Jan Molby ( If hoddle was the best passer for england, what was molby? )
MC - Josep Guardiola ( Barcelona only clicked when he was on the field )
FC - Dennis Bergkamp ( A hero at ajax and arsenal, I just loved watching the guy play )
FC - Hristo Stoichkov ( As well as a character, could play a bit and carried his country on many occasions )
Bill Shankly: “I was the best manager in Britain because I was never devious or cheated anyone. I’d break my wife’s legs if I played against her, but I’d never cheat her.”

best
1) Reina
2) Babbel
3) Bjornebye
4) Hyypia
5) Agger (best centre half in the world)
6) Heggem
7) Berger
8) Hammann
9) Alonso
10) Camara
11) Ridler
Subs: Westerveld, Molby, Henchoz, Litmanen, Mascherano

Worst
1) Luzi
2) Kromkamp
3) Kvarme
4) Babb
5) Song (who I don't think has made anyone's worst yet)
6) Diouf
7) Zenden
8) Diao
9) Cheyrou
10) Meijer
11) Dundee
Subs: Neilsen, Josemi, Nunez, Aurellio, Diomede

Excluding myself one one of you have the best centre half in the world Daniel Agger, in your best. Tut Tut. All entitled to your opinion though.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Surely you should include Dalglish then, Wales are just as much part of the Union as Scotland are. Ireland counts obviously.
