gerrard, lucas, aquilani, meireles, spearing, kuyt, mata and downing would be an unbelieveable midfield to choose from.

No choice but to get behind the lad, regardless of opinion of him, just hope all goes well

Prove me wrong Aqua lad  :)

I seriously think we need to be a little more reserved with the return of Aqua, ability yes, application and motivation, doubtful. Much like Bob, I dont think he wants to be here so whether we will see his full efforts remains unknown. We finished 7th with himin the side last year so I'm certainly not getting carried away with him being back, hopefully Kenny can get the best out of him but I'll certainly be a little worried in his first few games back.

When's everyone due back in trainging btw? I've a feeling business might pick up around then, I'd love to see a prezzer soon even just to hear from Kenny (even though what he says will probably be lies :D )

errr... he played less than half the games that season...

it's more like we finished 7th with Lucas playing in the centre, because Lucas was one of the worst players that season...

pretty sure its monday when all the players have to report for preseason.i know kelly and carroll are already back at melwood training and the rest monday.

so its beginning to look like aqua will return for next season and im glad to see it as should we lose merieles and without making any more signings we will be in trouble.
should gerrard fail to maintain fitness and merieles leaves then the midfield would be decimated.lucas, spearing, shelvey and henderson wont cut it and drive us on,poulsen, maxi and cole are useless and will not improve us in anyway and should have their contracts torn up if they wont agree to move.
in aqua's case he wasnt the worst when he got fit and did look like he could be an asset for last season and then woy came in and wan him.if he had of kept him then he would have gotten a season of valuable experience in the prem and could have been one of our better players last year.

This Aqua thing is a mess!!!

We should never have signed him, never have loaned him out and i dont think him coming back will work out for any party involved

how does that work?

If you feel we should never have signed him, you'll be happy that we loaned him out. If you feel we should never have loaned him out, you'll be happy that he's coming back...  :;):

We shouldn't have signed him because we needed a player to slot straight into the first team at the time.  Aqua was injured and we didnt know when he'd be fit again.  By the time he got fit, we were struggling so badly that we could hardly bed him in.

We shouldn't have loaned him out because at that time he'd only just got fit and had a chance to get pre season under his belt.  He could of helped us out a lot this season with Gerrard struggling to find fitness and us lacking creativity in the midfield.

We shouldn't take him back simply because he has no desire at all to be here.  His agent was trying to get him a transfer to any Italian team that'd take him.  No one wanted him so he is back with us.

Mess of a situation.

But he has come out and said he is happy to return, and that the press were incorrect when they said he was not.

Personally I rate him, and do feel that he has done nothing wrong that deserves getting the bird from us. I for one will be right behind him, he has a big chance to prove a lot of people wrong.

he had to say that though. No one in italy wanted him, so he is coming back here. If he is back here next season he has to say he's happy to be back - he has no choice. If he did, I bet you he'd take it.

1750 - last season Alberto Aquilani attempted the most passes at Juventus, with an 80% accuracy. Anfield?

Not bad

The Italy international is due to return to Merseyside for pre-season training after a permanent move to Juventus fell through.

Aquilani impressed at Juve during his loan, but the Italian giants refused to pay the asking price to keep the midfielder in Turin.

The 26-year-old has previously admitted he would have preferred to have stayed in Italy, but he insists he is looking forward to returning to Liverpool.

"I return to Liverpool with great enthusiasm," Aquilani told Sky Italia."This is not a problem.

"It's not true that I didn't want to return to England."
