Goodbye my friend,
I know you're gone,
you said you're gone,
but I can still feel you here,
It's not the end,
You gotta keep it strong before the pain turns into fear,
So glad we made it,
Time will never change it,
Goodbye Xabi.

Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.

I am a dreamer and when I wake,
You can't break my spirit - it's my dreams you take.
And as you move on, remember me,
Remember us and all we used to be
I've seen you cry, I've seen you smile.

I know your fears and you know mine.
We've had our doubts but now we're fine,
And I love you, I swear that's true.
I cannot live without you.

What does that mean? Don't even go down that 'Spiceboy' route garbage. Jamie never was.

That thought never entered my head (but the comparison must have occurred to you to suggest it, hmm)

I meant he's style of play and injuries

Lakes many teams tried to sign him before so its not like we're the first big club to be after him... Hes an Italian playing for one of the big clubs in Italy and trends show that they usually dont move abroad so that would probably explain why clubs like Madrid, ManUtd..etc werent linked with him .. He's a big local player for Roma so the chances of any other Italian club getting him are slim to say the least.. Still clubs like InterMilan tried to sign him before.. Arsenal were in for him too last year i think... been heavily linked to them in the past...

I think hes a brilliant footballer and would make it in any big club...

He looks a good player. Possibly even a great player. His injury problems are a worry tho. I think 25 is the most league games he has managed in a season for roma
Steve Gerrard Gerrard,
He'll pass the ball 40 yards,
He's quick and he's f*cking hard,
Steve Gerrard Gerrard.

Alberto Aquilani will bring goal threat to Liverpool midfield, says John Arne Riise

Roma defender John Arne Riise says Liverpool have not bought a like-for-like replacement for Xabi Alonso in Alberto Aquilani but believes the Italian will bring a greater goal threat and attacking intent to his former club’s midfield.

By Telegraph staff  06 Aug 2009

Alberto Aquilani is not a carbon copy of Xabi Alonso but will bring more attacking threat to the Liverpool midfield

Riise spent seven years at Anfield before moving to the Italian capital last summer and so is well placed to assess just what Aquilani will bring to Liverpool once he completes his £20 million transfer.

The Norwegian is quick to disabuse Liverpool fans of the notion they have bought a direct replacement for Alonso, who joined Real Madrid this week after five years on Merseyside.

Aquilani does not possess Alonso’s exquisite ability to pick a pass from deep within his own half but instead plays further up the pitch, eager to join attacks and will offer more goals than the Spaniard did.

“When I first came to Roma, I didn’t know a thing about Aquilani,” said Riise, speaking to the Express newspaper.

“I knew all about Francesco Totti, Daniele De Rossi and Philippe Mexes, of course, but Aquilani was the player who surprised me the most in my first months with what he could do.

“He’s really good on the ball, with good passing, good movement, he works hard and is a good professional.

“He likes to have the ball at his feet but not because he likes to dribble, he just wants to keep the team moving. He never stands still, he’s always on the run.

“He certainly runs more than Xabi and is probably more dangerous in terms of getting in the box and trying to score goals.

“When I came to Rome he was my neighbour and helped me out a lot. He’s a good friend. Liverpool will be getting a very good player.”

Aquilani, 25, who came through the youth ranks at Roma, had a disjointed season last year, playing just 14 games after undergoing ankle surgery in May.

His talent has never been in doubt but concerns persist over his robustness – something that will be tested to the full by his introduction to the hurly-burly of Premier League midfields.

“There is an obvious difference between the Italian and English leagues,” said Riise. “Here it is more tactical whereas in England you’re playing 90 minutes up and down, up and down, and there is more emphasis on power and physical force.

“But Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t all about physique and he has been the best player in the Premier League in recent seasons.

“Everyone can adapt. It just takes time. The key is how long it takes. I was lucky. I fitted in quite quickly when I came from Monaco.

“Alberto is someone who wants to make the most of his talent and wants to prove himself, so if Liverpool come in for you it is very hard to say no.”

Aquilani’s ability to adapt will play a large part in whether or not Liverpool can mount another credible title challenge this season after coming so close last time around.

“Last season I was so sure they would do it. They made a fantastic start but drew some games and United got stronger,” said Riise.

“I really hope they can do it this time. Xabi and Alvaro Arbeloa leaving is a shame, but Glen Johnson is a brilliant signing.

“All the Premier League games are shown on Sky Italia, and I managed to watch every Liverpool game last season. The club is in my heart. I had all my highlights at Liverpool. I still speak with Stevie [Gerrard] and Carra [Jamie Carragher], as well as Pepe Reina and Dirk Kuyt.

“The first months for me at Roma were hard, learning a new language and settling in, but I am happy here and enjoying it. We can have a really good season and I hope Liverpool can, too.”
