A question of moralty.......(the chelsea game)

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby LittleHobo » Sun Apr 18, 2010 7:56 am

We play chelsea soon, a game which will have massive bearing on whether united or chelsea win the title

would you prefer us to.........

1, go out for the win, and finish as high as possible but in doing so we give united the title and number 19

or

2. put out an understrengh team, not try and basically let chelsea win so it stops united winning the title

?

well it is simply actually, by the time we met Chelsea we will know more or less have we qualify for the champs league or not.

if so we still have a chance, then go for full points against chels.
if not, why should we help mancs get no. 19?
They have already got so many help from refs and wolves.
plus i like to see old fergie red with anger. :D

we certainly won't know that we've qualified for the champion's league fourth spot when we play them, although we will know if we've failed in the race for it if things don't go our way against West Ham tomorrow.

first time in 16 years I might actually want us to lose.. :no

Lets not kid ourselves, we haven't got a cat in hells chance of a CL spot
My big and very real worry is that its more likely we will need the win to fend off the blueshyte for the last Europa cup spot.

Would I sooner see us help united take the record or finish below that lot?

Now there's a rock and a hard place scenario  :p

Without a doubt under normal circumstances.

BUT; if we had 5/6th (realistic) spot confirmed, I could live with an unlucky 1-0 defeat to Chelsea if it meant not having to listen to all the media shyte about Utd being the all time record holders and us now playing catch up!

Plus the joy of watching Fergie rant on about some illogical conspiracy theory  :D

Well fourht looks like it's going to be out of our grasp, and as long as we finish in the top seven it doesn't overly matter if it's in 6th or 7th from what I can see. Particularly if we are still involved in the Europa League Cup, I think the game might be a good chance for a bit of rotation. Beating Chelsea and handing the title to the Mancs would be daft IMHO.

if we still have something to play for then we have to go out and win and do whats best for us, but if it turns out a nothing game then fook that lot and do a wolves on them, what goes around and all that.

The only consideration for team selection for me would be if we are still in Europa Cup

Other then best team out there to beat the chavs, we have our own history without having to write other teams theirs

If we are out from the fourth spot by the time we meet chlski, and man u is either trailing by 1 point or leading by 1 point i seriuosly dont mind us losing the game even if we may miss out on the europa league next year, simply because if we get out from all the european games next year, we can focus on the league totally and the FA cup.

I don't think anyone need worry about beating Chelsea. If we can't feckin beat Portsmouth, it won't take much not to beat Chelsea.

We will beat Chelsea.  The way the season has gone, it's Sod's law we will win the one game we wouldn't be too arsed about losing.
