A blast from the past (how cliched) - Who from lfc'spast would you bring back?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Beardsley was brilliant .....remember 5-0 against Forest in April '88.  He was awesome.....however, Kenny Dalglish's contribution to Liverpool is unsurpassable.
1.  Arrived in '77 to become our top goalscorer
2.  When he started to lose pace he became the the ultimate creator and made Rush a goal scoring machine.
3. Took over as player manager at a critical time after Heysel.....responded by winning the double (even scored the title clincher at stamford Bridge)
4. Created our most entertaining team ever ('87 / '88).
5. Guided the club through the trauma of Hillsborough.

Why Kenny isn't brought back to the club as father figure / ambassador just baffles me.

Beardsley was fantastic and i was really gutted when he was sold which seemed to be just as we started our decline.
But as its been said before only one player and i was looking at defender with our current needs

Sorry for roaming from the topic, but Souness sold Beardsley, McMahon and Houghton far too soon.

John Barnes without a doubt. How we have never had anyone so good on the left side since he was beating people for fun and chipping in with all his wonderful goals.

Barnes was brilliant.  It must have been a dream for Aldridge and Rush to play up front when Barnesy was supplying the ammunition.....in fact even Diego Forlan would score goals in a side that had Barnes in it.

I wonder should Liverpool have left him on the wing instead of playing him in central midfield during his last few years at the club ?

He no longer had the pace Sean did he under Roy Evans reign and reverted to a more central role with Redknapp. He was hampered by injury too in the Souness years that took its toll on him. I must admit that seeing Barnes in a central role just wasnt right for me at the time although he did a good job there.

Redknapp and Barnes were both creative players but both needed a Steveie Gerard next to them I reckon.

Pity Robbie failed to do the business in the cup final that year.....although he did look good in the white suit.
