Agree about Carragher: fine player but never should be number 7 in a list of all time greats. Just goes to show how the current players have a built in advantage.

Dalglish
Rush
Gerrard
Fowler
Barnes

I would like to have seen Keegan in there but its a special list isn't it?  Gerrard and Rush will battle it out for 2nd place.  Phil Neal's honours list is just f.ucking awesome.

Question... how the f.uck did Collymore get in above Craig Johnston?  In fact how the f.uck did he get in there at all? For me Razor would have got in before Collymore the c.unt just for breaking Cole's legs with one tackle ha ha ha ha ha :buttrock   And take a look at who is at number 66... I honestly did not know that he played for us. Number 66 too the little devil

Always moot these decisions about the greatest players. One great team would be:

                                    Ray Clemence

Phil Neal    Alan Hansen   Tommy Smith     Alan Kennedy

Steven Gerrard    John Barnes   Graham Souness   Ray Kennedy

                           Kenny Dalglish    Ian Rush

By the way, most people put RF in the top 5--but I doubt that he'd get into the greatest Liverpool team of many people here.[B]

Well Robbie has to be in the top 5 due to his scoring record and affinity with the fans.

The top 5 should be:

Dalglish
Rush
Fowler
Hughes
Liddel.

They are the fans' favourites of their respective era's.

My personal top 5 (as I'm too young to remember most of them):

God
Barnes
Rush
JC
Sami.

Obviously I only saw Rush and Barnes in the a*se-end of their careers, but could see the quality they once had.

I think Emlyn Hughes got it right when he said that the modern teams would probably beat the team of the 70's and 80's because they are bigger, fitter, and faster, but that the modern team wouldnt get a touch of the ball for the first 70 minutes.

totally agree, these kind of threads are :censored: really, unless you have lived and can remember the players week in week out,and performances over 30 years. Its far too easy to go with only what you have seen recently.WATCH VIDEOS AND DVDS And talk to people who were there.........then these type of best of threads can work properly.

Agree Phil, So many really great players, I know you mentioned Ray Kennedy and rightly so, but what about Terry McDermott too, what a dynamo he was. I can still see that goal he scored against Spurs.
And Steve Nicol too, not flashy by any means but nobody  gave any more than him.
