Yesterday I was taking a coffee and in the bar there was a muted tv with a combat in eurosports. The lad had red shorts, and you could read "Scouse" in the back. And he had a liverbird in the front part of the shorts. Name of the boxer anyone?

It could be Derry Mathews Sabre

Depending on the outcome of Calzaghe v Jones , Hopkins should be given another shot

agree with you here nanny he looked awesome
and if he did fight calzaghe like that he would of beat him he totaly outclassed pavik

I read in the Boxing corner of Marca last week that the worse boxer ever is going to retire.

According to Marca, the worst boxer ever has been Peter Buckley, from Birmingham.

299 fights, 256 defeats, and the next day he'll make the last one with 300.

Peter Buckley says that Boxing has been good for him as when he was younger he had troubles with the police, and Boxing allowed him to get the correct path in life.

Well I like this people who love a sport despite not being good at it. Apparently Buckley was very prolific in his fights, he sometimes fought with a purple eye of the previous fight.

Great win for Joe he should retire now whilst he is on top but I reckon he will fight Jones Jnr again. There is a rematch clause in the contract if I am not mistaken.

I heard something about that to, it was my understanding though that the clause was incase Calzaghe lost the fight. He is well within his rights to walk away now 11 years unbeaten is some record, he doesnt need the money so why have another fight. IMO he has proved all he needed to. I havent seen the fight from this morning yet so I cant really comment on how well he fought or if he deserved to win etc,etc but well done anyway Joe.

That was another superb performance from Joe, apart from the early scare again he absolutely outclassed Jones, and made him look like the old man he is.
The cut was bad as well the fight probably should of been stopped with the cut being above the eye and the fight so one sided anyway.

On the subject of Hopkins he did look a totally different fighter against Pavlik and it was also a masterclass, it would be very interesting if they fought again, thats if Hopkins actually tried to fight this time.
If Calzaghe doesnt want it then fair enough though it was Hopkins who blatantly spoiled there last fight so Joe owes him nothing.

Another fantastic performance for Calzaghe. Like the Lacey fight, the ref should have stopped it beore it went to points. Jones Jnr's eye was a mess. I'd like to see them both retire now, neither have anything else to prove.
