Hang fire, soldier - it's school time for a moment:

Miss, Miss - he started it!

He called me a "piece of camel dung" or some-such, after basically saying that he wanted some of his more burly gay mates to either beat me up or roger my anus with a tennis racquet.

Well - I THINK he meant a tennis racquet...

I HOPE he meant a tennis racquet... :D

yeah, this freedom of speech thing is dangerous. the bigots use it, the fascists use it, the homophobes, racists and all sorts use it. i've seen you yourself, lando, getting all hot and bothered about the preachings of fundamentalists in the uk. surely by your rules though they are just excercising freedom of speech.

i'm all for it myself as well, on the very important condition that it is used with respect.

Does it matter who started it ? FFS look at the thread - its got to ridiculous levels now . Normally your style of humour is generally funny but you have to be aware of who it insults , obviously someone doesnt like it so just stop it there and then and move on .

Steady GYBS, it'l be you next, he's trying to go round the lot of us with his insults.

What he doesn't realise with his "freedom of speech" is that he's swearing, which is breaking a public order offence, therefore you cannot say what the hell you like, and as you quite rightly pointed out, it has its restrictions.

See we can all be a$$ wipes if we want!

So I take it that you feel I have wronged you and all of mankind by what I have typed on here to represent my own feelings on the double-handed backhand? I personally believe that you have got yourself all het-up over something that was never aimed at you (it was aimed at Murray, if you cast your mind back) and you've gone over the top in making this some kind of personal quest.

Never-the-less, I apologise unreservedly for the obvious upset and distress I have caused, and shall stab my inner thigh with forks for the rest of the evening...

Now - I'm off to coach the glorious sport of tennis (excluding the very, very butch double-handed backhand, of course)...

*EDIT* Attention all butch people: The above is in no way a disparaging or inflammatory remark about butchness. I accept that many wonderful people have been butch in their past and taken tremendous personal strides to rectify this damaging and lasting lifestyle.

Inside every butch person, there is a nice person waiting to get out...

Ah, I do love it so when an imbecile joins the fray.

Public Order offences can only be committed in public places, you utter gimp.

A forum, believe it or not, is an optional environ. You can leave at any time no matter what anyone does.

Now - run along to class, boy.

now that one is an absolute cracker.

andy "luther king" g is xenophobic because he questions the freedom of speech claimed by someone who incessantly insults gay people. i love the luther king bit but surely you're aware of the ridiculousness of the rest of your statement. you are.... aren't you??

and don't you worry about me gybs, i'm not insulted, maybe i even started it with my evil comments.

my apologies to the tennis fans who were enjoying this thread. i've made my point, lando is never going to agree with it, and there is no point carrying on with the dispute. lando, if you want to keep on discussing this we can do it via pm.

i'm off to practice my double handed backhand.

Well yes, it does, if you're trying to pin sh*t on me.

He entered the thread with an insult towards me.

And you expect me to not retaliate?

I am beginning to understand why you are so well liked on here...  :oh:

You're just being a sarcastic, immature bar steward now.

And you're the one that's gone OTT on basically all of your posts on this thread. You're the one that got personal with it.

So me and Andy down, who you after next?

Oh Dear God I cant believe theirs a flame war going on for 3 straight days over a double handed backhand.

In any case there is a big difference in referring to something as gay and being homophobic, just look at the way the word is used now in every avenue of pop culture, it used to reference what would usually be perceived as a "manly" thing / person / animal / tennis shot when is acts / is done in an effeminate way, not to put put down the gay community.

Just my two cents worth lads, continue flaming (hey, thats another gay reference!)  :D
