Those look great. My biggest complaint with modern day zombie flicks, including even Romero's last few atrocious efforts, is that the zombies just don't look "dead" enough. These new films where the zombies seem to be super human and can run like a olympic sprinter just suspends the concept that the zombies are actually supposed to be corpses and not athletes. It just takes away the creepiness that the dead are meant to exude.

The best way to get that dead look is to actually have an artist, or a make up artist, to witness actual dead. Tom Savini went to Veitnam so that explains why Day of the Dead had the best make-up effects for that era, and still probably to this day. Bub in that film looked as if someone just dug him out of a nearby grave, the make up looked that authentic, and Instead of using fake blood like most special effects producers would these days, Savini insisted on using actual pigs blood and intestines for some of the more gory scenes in the film which the zombie actors had to actually physically bite into. Lovely.

Aye, Day of the Dead is probably the best horror film ever made IMO. It's yet to be topped. The opening still sends shivers up my spine.

I hate the olympic zombies too. Bloody stupid. But, it's a symptom of lazy writing. When you have shambling zombies, you have to write decent set pieces, so the human cast can get into some sort of peril. With the tireless runaround zombies, you don't need any of that, they can just enter the frame racing at top speed like a raptor. But, their meance is diluted.

Watched 'Rampage' today, not bad. Presumably it's about a young lad who goes a bit mental and therefore goes on a rampage killing everyone. :D 7/10

I'm toying with the idea of watching 'Pimp' with Danny Dyer headlining this one, the camera work is meant to be on the documentary side and it puts me off to be honest. If anyone has seen it though I'd be interested in their views on it.

Can't say I've ever got into "horror" movies, although some good ones have been mentioned here.

I do enjoy the OTT horror films that have you creased up with laughter.

Thought the EVIL DEAD trilogy was brilliant.

Evil Dead - Who's laughing now ?

:D , I saw the movie a couple of months ago Baz.

What can I say ? .

I watched it all the way through and can't remember anything about it.

Based on that I'd have to rate it as "forgettable"

Wow

I've just watched a cracker, 'Unthinkable' staring Samuel L Jackson. For the moral dilema it portrays is worthy of a 9/10 rating alone, Samual is a beast in this movie and this is one thought provoking movie.

Thought provoking in what way ?

Saw the movie , forgot most of it already. Maybe I missed something ? .

I'm guessing here but maybe your reference to "moral dilema" revolves around the use of "torture" to one family in order to extract information that may save the life of millions ?

Didn't present any "dilema" to me .

(Good movie though   :D )
