Rumor is that Uruguay will call Giorgio Chiellini as a potential witness in the defence of Suarez

if chiellini is saying that then it just proves how ridiculous the ban was  :nod
it makes you wonder if FIFA even spoke to the player seeking his version of events before handing out that punishment.  :help

Chiellini posted a statement on his official website in which he claimed the ban – which also includes a nine-match ban for Uruguay and a 100,000 Swiss Franc fine (around £66,000) – and admitted that he has no happiness from Suarez’s World Cup ending prematurely.

“Now inside me there's no feelings of joy, revenge or anger against Suarez for an incident that happened on the pitch and that's done,” said Chiellini. “There only remain the anger and the disappointment about the match.

“At the moment my only thought is for Luis and his family, because they will face a very difficult period.

“I have always considered unequivocal the disciplinary interventions by the competent bodies, but at the same time I believe that the proposed formula is excessive. I sincerely hope that he will be allowed, at least, to stay close to his team mates during the games because such a ban is really alienating for a player.”

A clearly corrupt football governing body that should call the entire integrity of the game into question... occasionally we see an article or 2 about it in the news.

Suarez nibbles at someone in the heat of the moment, top worldwide news.  Strange world we live in.

Hope he stays at Liverpool though.  He is one of the best players in the world.
Sick of us losing players over the years and convincing ourselves that we are Liverpool and we'll be fine without them.
That kind of thinking had us outside the top 4 for 4 years.

Ill start by saying that Suarez is a fcking disgraceful idiot. The biggest worry for me is how Suarez reacts to all the media attention this story is getting. I say that because I would hope that he doesnt use it as an excuse for asking for a transfer again; which says something about his commitment to the side. He probably will, which is a real shame.

Dont get me wrong, I couldnt care less if he wants to be here or not. I really dont. No more than I did last season. I dont think he's the type to sulk and start under performing if he doesnt get his way. He might bite you, but he'll always give 100%. That, and his undeniable ability, are the only reasons we tolerate him. It is also the only reason we stand up for him like idiots (myself included, and I will probably continue to do so) when we know full well that he was out of line. I expect Uruguay to appeal. I expect Liverpool to do all they can to try and get the ban changed in some form or the other. I dont see it working but it is understandable that everyone would.

That said, I think the best thing the club can do is to come out and say that they accept the ban, that they stand behind FIFA's ruling, and that Suarez would be fined the maximum possible and forced to seek help.

We should appeal, Although Suarez is guilty and deserves punichment its not fair that we get punished for something he done on international duty.

Uruguay appealing could f*ck us over if they extend it further

Ballague seems to think Suarez will be joining Barcelona, the one potential snag from their point of view according to him is that Barca don't want to pay the full €80m asking price in cash, they want to offer us a player in part ex but the two we are interested in (Sanchez and Pedro) dont want to come here.
Sanchez wants to return to Italy and Pedro is not keen on England.

not surprising they dont want to part with the asking price  :no  they never do. we will get shafted in this one by getting 45-50 + one or two kids they dont want.
our transfer committee need to work harder in persuading top players to choose us over other clubs  :nod

Surprised not many posters have mentioned in this recent debate what the owners, Fenway, My John Henry, The directors and the board will make of the whole debacle. Do we think they will be smiling over recent events?

Rumours are that Suarez has lost sponsorship. Imagine if our clubs' sponsors pull the plug, and don't want to do business with out club, due to the conduct of our players!?? that's the way the board will be looking at it.

Listen, Suarez is an Ambassador for Liverpool FC, he's bitten three times, and been done for racism. all of this reflects badly on our club. He's giving our club a bad reputation.

I don't agree with those forum posters who think it is not serious matter...

What would all of you say if Steven Gerrard started biting people next season?? Most of you would be horrified.

It's not acceptable really is it!

Totally disagree with most of that Ace. He is not as some people suggest an idiot. He is guilty of some stupid behaviour but there are numerous players that are guilty of far worse. Just look at the behaviour of the likes of Barton and Bowyer for example and to think ironically we have been linked with both of them. Off the pitch Luis is regarded as one of the nicest guys you could meet and extremely intelligent. His will to win and his street fighter attitude will at times let him down and get the better of him. Just how many professional footballers have come out and admitted that they would rather have a Suarez nibble than a leg breaking tackle? Personally I think we have gone totally overboard with this garbage about spitting and biting as if they are hanging offences. Just what happens in your average rugby match? Gouging, biting, punching, butting to name but a few. Are we going fig soft or what? We talk about example and this country allows fkg terrorists to spout their bile in public !! That is my idea of disgraceful and certainly not Luis Suarez.
