Euro's 2016

International Football/Football World Wide - General Discussion

England were shamed in France ,the likes of Lineker and Ferdinand couldn't disguise their relief when Iceland scored late in the game to take a meeting with Portugal out of the equation. I mean you only had to hear Gabriel Clarke talking up an England v France encounter to Evra even before they had played the Iceland game ,to which Evra replied I cant talk about that when you have still to play Iceland. England are streaked with a real arrogance from the pundits to the players ,and it baffles me where exactly its spawned from ,because in the grand scheme of things they have won fuck all since 66.

They haven't even won a game at a Euro knockout stage

I'm loving Wales at this tourney as well. Looking forward to watching them

The game in Iceland can't even sustain one pro club the size of Dagenham & Redbridge and their assistant manager is a full time dentist yet they handed England's multi millionaires their @rses. I'm just glad there was only 1 Liverpool player involved in that farce.
Come on Wales.

At least you can be proud mate !! It was a pleasure to watch Wales play. Losing Ramsey made last nights task against Portugal that much more difficult. Football is a team game and that is what Coleman has developed unlike Hodgson who assembled a collection of overhyped and overpaid individuals.

I am English and normally proud of it until it comes to our national football team. I lost any interest I had in England the day they appointed Hodgson as manager.  How he managed to retain his position after an appalling World Cup was simply beyond belief.Rather than being disappointed when we lost to Iceland I actually laughed as it came as no real surprise!

Wales did themselves proud and have proven (again) that a well drilled, together team will always go far.

It's been great watching them. It's easy to be gutted about it but you'll look back on this with nothing but pride

Why are international finals so dreary?  120 mins or tedium....can't remember the last time the Euros or world cup final was a footballing master class.

Anyway, well done to Portugal. They edged it and deserve the victory.

Agreed, in fact outside of the prem I find a lot of football boring, including CL games.
The prem is about the only league left in world football where the ball gets moved from front to back pretty quickly, a lot of these continental and international sides tend to keep the ball almost for the sake of it and possession football without an end product is numbingly tedious.

Agreed, the vast majority of football (if not all) has been slow and drab. Every time the ball went out of play it seemed to take an age for anyone to be bothered to put it back into play. Forgettable tournament all round

I think this best third stuff hasn't helped, it's promoted defensive football

I saw an interesting interview with Kevin Keegan where he blames modern coaches and the academy system in general for coaching the individuality out of players and for churning out footballing robots.
