Champions League 2013/14

England only gets 4 CL places. If a team outside the top 4 wins the comp, then yes the 4th team loses out.  The rules were brought in after we won it in 2005.

We will finish in the top 3 and United will not win the Champions League even if we slip into 4th position.

Form we are in I will disappointed if we finish lower than second now to be honest and United are the weakest side
left in the CL, plum draw for anyone.

The odds of it happening are pretty slim, yes we upset the form book in 2005 but our win was based on a rock solid defence, in 2005 we went away to the likes of the English and Italian champions and didn't concede one single goal, teams look like they are going to score against United every time they go forward.
The one slight concern I have is that as per usual the jammy b@stards have got through to the quarter finals without playing a decent side yet, Leverkusen are probably the best side they've faced and you'd be lucky to get through to the quarters of the Europa league never mind the CL without encountering stiffer opposition than that. Dortmund are a shadow of the side they were last year and them and Atletico are probably the 2 weakest sides left in it so get down to the bookies and put some money on United getting one of those 2.
I am confident though that the first top club they face (Bayern, Barcelona, Real, PSG) they will be out.

I've got a cheeky wager on Athletico going all the way.

Athletico is by no means a weak club and PSG is not a top club. Man Utd. is definitely the weakest out of the remaining sides though. I think that this is as far as they go.

Anyway, I mentioned that horror scenario where we finish 4th and United win the CL some time ago. It seems more and more unlikely though, since we're going to finish above 4th anyway.

They got the easiest possible draw in Olympiakos in the first round (nobody was surprised) after having an easy group stage where, as said earlier, Leverkusen was probably the hardest team they played.  I won't be surprised at all if they end up with Dortmund or PSG, either way they should get smothered.  I think Atletico are a hell of a team as well right now, but regardless united should be out next round.

Totally agree.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Athletico Madrid, PSG, Bayern Munich and Chelsea would be heavy favourites to beat Man Utd. The only realistic chance they have of progressing is a Dortmund draw.

I'd have a sneaky quid on Athletico winning it this year.

My gut tells me it's going to be another German clash on the finals.
