It has to be Owen. Ok, by his standards he's had two poorish seasons but as an all rounder he beats Rooney hands down. Give Rooney a few years he may become better.

owen is a proven world class striker where as rooney is still a good prospect id have to keep michael myself.

At this moment in time I'd say Rooney, I hate the fat ugly bluenose but he is more possitive than Owen, Rooney has pace which is something Owen doesn't have anymore.

Regards to choosing one of the two on all round merit I'd choose Owen.

Very difficult to answer because we are all fellow reds,so most would side with Owen. Now if Rooney played for liverpool in the same side as Owen, who would you sell at this present time [ if one had to go ]??

Hate to say it because he's a Bluenose, but Roon could be a great player.

Owen had one of his poorest seasons yet but with the exception of Euro 2004 he was still hands down better than Rooney (it would be interesting to compare goal talleys but i know Rooney got more yellow cards than goals)- He wasnt even good enough to play up front for Eveton he spent half his time in midfield!
I know Rooney had an amazing Euro tournement but dont forget he was the surprise package with bags of enegy (from being on the bench for lots of games). At this stage i would have to go with Owen.

Rooney will end up a wee fat lad (sorry even fatter) and will not be the sensation that the press are talking about. He had a very poor season with Everton although the fact that he plays for a poor side hasn't helped him.

It's interesting to see that none of the London teams are interested in him. He is only 18 and has an awful lot to prove.

As for Owen, he too had a poor season by his standards, but he is well on his way to getting over 100 caps for England and could well be England's highest ever international goalscorer.

I'd take Owen any day.

As long as Mikey wears a red shirt and Shrek wears a blue one then Mikey gets my completely unbiased vote. Besides Shrek would scoff all the pies leaving none for us. :)

Quite simply its Michael. If Rooney ever starts to terrorize defences like Argentina's, Brazil's etc one i will reconsider.
