Liverpool on brink of £150M adidas kit deal  - 06.04.10

Liverpool are on the brink of a mega bucks £150 million sponsorship deal with adidas.

The News of the World says the sports giants are to offer the Reds a massive contract extension to rival Manchester United's record-breaking deal with Nike.

Liverpool's current £12m-a-season deal with adidas has two years to run but they have already contacted the club to discuss another TEN years.

They are desperate to reaffirm their commitment to the Reds who, alongside United, blow their Premier League rivals out of the water when it comes to worldwide shirt sales.

Big race to see who can waste it first, the owners or Rafa.

wouldn't surprise me if the owners have asked for the money upfront so they can keep the club for another year without needing to look for investment elsewhere

if it works that way it good news but it can not be used on the loan, it will not be given up front, it will be spilt up over the time of the deal......this means its not real money by that i mean the club think "thats good we can spend 150mil" yes they can but its only against the deal money in the account books.

Anticipated income that they can pledge against a loan.

The mythology put around by the likes of Purslow is that big shirt sponsorship deals and kit deals are going to enable Liverpool to compete in the transfer market. It's just another con-trick on the fans. If the Standard Chartered deal was going to mean megabucks for Benitez this summer why has he been bending over backwards to sign Jovanovic on a free as backup for Torres next season? Purslow should go he's worse than Parry - an apologist and nothing more for the Americans.

that might be due to the faxct there is a very good chance it will not be Rafa spending the money, why give your manger to work on deals with your money when you know he has had his team talking to other clubs about jobs there, why let a manager that has taken 56 players to the club and spent all your money do it again? ?????

they might well be holding off with the money untill the new manager comes in.

It is still a great deal for us, and shows that globally we are still one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Adidas know that no matter what we play like globally we will sell x amount of shirts so no matter what Adidas will make big money out of us....

but obviously it will be less if they have Kenwyne Jones/Bent instead of Fernando Torres

or

Scott Parker instead of Steven Gerrard on the back of their addidas shirt

Sign em down for another 10 years then, we could be fighting to avoid relegation but a contract is a contract  :D

Standard Chartered sponsership, Adidas and Stadium Rights are one off deals, and baseline income to cover our fixed outgoings - stadium, investments in the academy etc..

The variable costs and overheads have to be covered from success on the field, club shop and matchday income. Errrrr.......

Incedently, a 10 year deal is senseless, ask Arsenal with their Emirates deal - yes they have a new stadium but their sold their naming rights and shirt sponsership for peanuts.

All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road
