Unlike Bodgers, Klopp can attract top draw players.

With £140m in his hand, I trust our gaffer to spend the money wisely.

We've got 4 games until the window closes.

City H
Swansea A
FA cup 4th Round
Hudersfield A

After that its crunch time as far as the season is concerned. We really will need to get a replacement this window.

If Pearce is saying it then its true  :nod  £105 up front with the rest in add ons that we will probably never see.

Didn't Dortmund get a similar fee up front for that 20 year old kid? lol we really are a joke of a club these days, 4+ years left on his contract and no buy out clause and we still get taken the cleaners.

Agreed the handling of this has been shambolic by the club, if we weren’t sure before we are now, we are firmly a second tier football club now, big clubs do not operate in this way.

Alexis Sanchez would be an amazing signing we should give that a shot. But he seems to have his eyes on City i guess.

Mahrez would be the logical signing at this stage i guess...Well acquainted with the EPL (Unlike Lemar) ,Skill sets similar to Couts ,great foot work ,imaginative and eligible for CL football.
We can worry about bigger signning next summer.

News going around on Mahrez signing for us (Beinsports) don't know how credible it is.

He turned 29 last month mate, can't see FSG forking out significant cash on a player that age.
If we don't sign a creative player this window though we are f**ked, Lallana is just not up to the job, for all his silky skills he creates very little, if ever a player flattered to deceive its him.

No what they are saying mate is that Liverpool are going to play hardball from now on and not let players leave the club so easily which is, quite frankly, a laughable thing to say when they've just sold the jewel in our crown.
Talk about closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.
You couldn't make this s(hit) up you really couldn't, we continually sell our best players and at the same time scratch our heads and wonder why we haven't won the title for 30 years.

Quite few rumours going around

Mahrez and Lemar would soften the blow but no doubt we'll just buy Mahrez and use the rest of the fee to cover VVD's fee.

We are a selling club mate, over the past decade some of the names who have played for this club are ridiculous, we've had Torres, Suarez, Alonso, Mascherano, Coutinho, Sterling, Arbeloa etc etc not to mention the likes of Gerrard, Carragher, Hyypia, Agger etc but what have we actually won in those 10 years?
Let me tell you, we've won the grand total of 1 League Cup, Wigan's FA Cup win a few years ago trumps that.
That's because as a club we continually sell our best players, we are in the business of buying and selling not winning trophies.

Coutinho going had been done and dusted ages ago imo. VVD deal was done early to take the sting out of things and expect us to sign at least another player this month. Sounds like there might be some truth in the Mahrez thing. A good player but more a wide player . We need someone who can pull the strings centrally.

Coutinho leaving is tough to handle. I understand the frustration from everybody, but I still think the owners and Klopp have done everything they can to keep him. We have to consider the fact that Coutinho wanted out, and was refusing the play. At the end of the Summer, and now at the beginning of the transfer window he was refusing to play, we just masked it with an injury to keep the drama out of it as best as possible. I'm sure Klopp and the owners worked it out with him in the Summer that we'd listen to offers in January if he gave his all once the window closed, and he still had to keep up his performance to Barca would still want him.
The owners went all out in the summer for VVD, and had to step back because of the tapping up, but made sure we got our guy. Completing deals before the window even opens with both him and Keita is very smart- we have the player at the beginning of the window (in VVD case, not Keita), and we stop a bidding war from forming, which was going to happen with city interested in VVD, and Barca trying to drive the price of Keita up on us.
They also attempted to get a replacement for Coutinho already, and I suspect we will put a lot of effort in to doing so this window. They've shown they're willing to put the money down to get the players Klopp wants.

Coutinho was forgiven because he was playing well, but I don't believe for a second that he didn't bring a somewhat poisonous atmosphere to the locker room. He wanted out, and refused to play. The players knew it. Why do they want to play with somebody who doesn't want to be a part of their team? It also sends the wrong message to players we're trying to sign. Lemar may dream of playing at Barca too- we have no control over that. If he sees us holding Coutinho hostage, he won't come here, or will refuse unless there's a buy out in his contract. It's the same way they've treated Can- he'd probably sign a deal, but wanted a low buy-out clause. The club stood firm that we're not doing that, and it sets the proper precedent going forward. Very few of the best players in the world would want to come to Liverpool and stay forever if we didn't start competing for the League and CL consistently, so we're going to have to deal with that while we continue to progress (which we have done over the last few years).

It'll be interesting to see who we go after. I still believe FSG have been fantastic owners, and dealt with everything the last couple years as well as they possibly could have. If the £104 up front rumor is true, I won't be happy about that unless the add-ons are very realistic, and likely to be realized within the next year or two. If we don't push hard to sign somebody during this window, I won't be thrilled either, tho it is hard to get the best players in January. I'd also be devastated if Coutinho leaving had the same effect that Suarez leaving did. I don't believe it will tho, as we were pretty close to a 1-man team when he left, and at least now we've got a few more world-class players. This will be a great opportunity for somebody to step up.
