Liverpool have tracked Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri all summer long with rumours rife a deal could be done.

But, according to reports in Spain, Atletico Madrid have jumped the queue to sign him.

AS report that officials have travelled to Germany to present a bid to Bayern and try and tie up a deal.

Whether the Reds are still interested after Mario Balotelli's arrival is unclear but they could move again if the price is right.

The 22-year-old fits Rodgers' style and his versatility figures to work well in the Reds super fluid system.

Liverpool are preparing an offer for Xherdan Shaqiri after Atletico Madrid made an approach for the Bayern Munich star.

Brendan Rodgers was desperate to sign the Swiss winger earlier in the transfer window, but found his efforts rebuffed by the Bayern hierarchy.

Liverpool have signed a number of attacking players this summer, including the likes of Lazar Markovic and Adam Lallana, but the club have been keeping tabs on Shaqiri after the midfielder made it known he was not happy about playing second fiddle to Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.

Rodgers was not planning on making another move for the 22-year-old with the market set to shut on Monday night, but the former Swansea boss is now ready to pounce after reports claimed that Atletico have asked Bayern to name their price.

The La Liga champions have already raided Bayern for striker Mario Mandzukic, and Diego Simeone is hoping that Shaqiri will be tempted to follow suit.

Italian media also claims that Juventus are monitoring the situation as question marks remain over Arturo Vidal's proposed transfer to Manchester United and a potential deal involving Javier Hernandez.

However, Liverpool's 3-1 defeat to reigning Premier League champions Manchester City yesterday evening has prompted Rodgers to consider more reinforcements despite already spending well over £100million this summer, and Shaqiri could find himself plying his trade at Anfield alongside latest signing Mario Balotelli next month.

Yep, posted the Borini news at 6 yesterday on his thread

liverpool-fc-forum/fabio-borini-official-thread-t29832-510.html

Reports in the Northen Echo (Sunderland) tonight are that AC Milan are trying to take Fabio on loan

Not happy about this loaning to Italian clubs, it never ends well for us

Slightly pi$$ed with Borini for being selfish, 14 million was accepted by us from Sunderland and would have been super business

Welcome to Manchester
Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen is reportedly a shock transfer target for Manchester United.
United are planning to make a £20million bid for the 24-year-old as boss Louis van Gaal tries to bolster his misfiring midfield.
Van Gaal had Allen watched during the Reds 3-1 defeat at champions Manchester City on Monday night as he weighs up his options, the Daily Star reports.
He is believed to have caught the eye of Dutchman Van Gaal when he impressed for Wales in a 2-0 friendly defeat against Holland in Amsterdam in June.
