Rodriguez is a very good left back, would have him over Moreno. Only problem is Wolfsburg will ask for top dollar for him. Not sure Utd would want to spend big money on another LB after splashing out over £30m on Shaw

All over Twitter that Lucas went to training yesterday, was told he was no longer in the club's plans, and went home (sounds like a little media drama to me).

However, what is known is that he removed the LFC Player from his twitter bio, and unfollowed LFC on twitter....

nter Milan are showing interest in Liverpool's Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva.

The 27-year-old has been at Anfield since 2008 but made just 29 appearances last season due to a combination of injuries and being left out by manager Brendan Rodgers.

He has 24 Brazil caps but was left out of Luis Felipe Scolari's squad for the World Cup on home soil.

Luis Suarez is nearing the exit door at Liverpool as he edges closer to completing his £63million move to Barcelona.

Rodgers remains interested in taking Barca's Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez in return.

Lazar Markovic's Serbia coach claims he can become a world star at Liverpool.

Liverpool are negotiating Markovic's move from Benfica and hope to conclude his £19.8million transfer this week.

Serbia boss Ljubinko Drulović is delighted Markovic could be moving to the Premier League and he feels the winger will blossom at Anfield.

"Markovic made an excellent season at Benfica last year, he evolved a lot," he said.

"It'll be good for him and Benfica. Going to a very strong league will help him even more to become a major player worldwide.

"He's 20 years old and has a long time to play. Markovic could prove to become a very important player in Europe."

Schalke general manager Horst Heldt claims the club have had no contact from Liverpool over a possible move for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

Reports emanating from Holland claimed Liverpool were lining up a move for Huntelaar as they look to bolster their attacking options with Luis Suarez expected to move to Barcelona.

Huntelaar played down the links with Liverpool last week saying he planned talks over his future after his involvement with the Netherlands at the World Cup.

The 30-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at the Veltins-Arena and is in talks over a new deal.

Heldt says he had no contact with Liverpool regards Huntelaar and that they have no interest in selling the former Ajax and Real Madrid hit-man this summer.

"Most recently, I've read that Liverpool FC should have interest in Klaas-Jan Huntelaar," Heldt told the club's official website.

"Liverpool, Klaas-Jan and also his adviser have not contacted us.

"And we also have no interest in selling the player."

Michu is being linked with Athletico and Napoli for around 10 million.

Worth a punt for that price? I think so. Quality when fully fit but did have a few injuries last season. 28yrs old now.

I haven't seen any English clubs linked other than West Ham a few weeks ago which seems strange if he's available.

Think we will and should be aiming higher than someone like Michu. He also apparently has some serious injury/fitness issues

Yaya Toure has no intention of staying with Manchester City and is open to a move to Chelsea or Liverpool this summer.

Toure has publicly criticised City in recent weeks, firstly alleging that the Citizens failed to acknowledge his birthday and then claiming they denied him an opportunity to spend time with his dying brother.

Will City deny both those claims, it is clear that the relationship between club and player remains tense with some suggesting that Toure is agitating for a move or improved terms at the Etihad.

And now reports in France suggest that Toure is determined to force through a move before the start of next season.

While it is thought that PSG are Toure's most likely destination, it has been suggested that Chelsea or Liverpool remain alternative options.

Toure has previously denied that he wants to leave but French publication Le Parisien quote an unnamed Ivory Coast international teammate as saying: "He has accumulated too many grudges against [Manchester City's] leaders and he will not stay with them.

"He will do everything to ensure his departure this summer."

Toure signed a new four-year deal with City in April 2013 and it seems unlikely that the Manchester club would sell the midfield titan to a Premier League rival.

It now remains to be seen whether Toure is determined to force through a move, and, if so, whether Chelsea or Liverpool can see off PSG in the race for the 31-year-old.

Liverpool's spending looks set to break the £70m barrier with the imminent signings of Benfica's Lazar Markovic and Lille's Divock Origi, Sky Sports understands.

Serbian winger Markovic could complete a move to Anfield in the next 48 hours in a deal understood to be worth in the region of £25m.

A product of Partizan Belgrade's youth system, Markovic is a full international with 12 caps and two goals to his name.

The 20-year-old joined Benfica on a five-year contract last season and Liverpool fans will be encouraged by the fact that he has won the league in each of his four seasons as a professional.

Markovic helped Benfica to a domestic treble last season and made 13 appearances in Europe as the club overcame an early exit from the Champions League to reach the Europe League final.

Origi could also join Markovic at Anfield with Liverpool understood be in advanced talks over a £10m deal with Lille for the striker's services.

The 19-year-old featured in all five matches for Belgium at this summer's World Cup despite only making his international debut weeks before the tournament.

He scored in Belgium's group match against Russia and landed 82 per cent of his shots on target during the tournament.

Origi started 12 matches for Lille last term and scored six goals with a 32 per cent conversion rate. He also created 19 chances for the Ligue 1 side last year and reportedly could be loaned back to the club next season.

Liverpool have already signed Germany U21 international Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen and Southampton duo Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana.

Rodgers' side have also been linked with another raid on Southampton for Croatia centre-back Dejan Lovren.

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge thinks Lovren would be a good acquisition for the club.

"I think he is a really good centre-half and he showed that at the World Cup, he did very little wrong there," Aldridge told Sky Sports News.

"When he's played against Liverpool he's been outstanding and I think he scored the winner at Anfield last year as well.

"Everyone knows Liverpool could have been a lot better at the back last year. Brendan probably sees Lovren as a leader and more of a talker (than the other central defenders at the club)."

Liverpool are monitoring the situation of Metz striker Diafra Sakho, along with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

Sakho was prolific in front of goal for Metz last term, bagging 20 goals in Ligue 2 as Les Grenats stormed to promotion by winning the division.

Marseille have been leading the race for Sakho, with Metz having long since accepted that their chances of holding onto the 24-year-old this summer are slim.

Indeed, the club's academy director Denis Schaeffer told Inside Futbol earlier this year that 15 clubs, including English sides, have been packing the stands.

He revealed to us: "Every game, there are around 15 international clubs that come to the matches to see him. English clubs are here."

And according to La Provence, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are amongst those clubs.

Sakho is a product of Metz's esteemed youth academy, which counts Robert Pires, Louis Saha, Papiss Cisse, Miralem Pjanic and Emmanuel Adebayor among its graduates.

The 24-year-old, who won the Best Player in Ligue 2 award last season, is under contract with Metz until the summer of 2015.

Excited by Markovic signing. Great talent.

Expect we'll be linked with about 3000 strikers in the upcoming weeks.

Markovic looks a real talent but he is only 20 so he may take a while to settle. I'm sure he'll be a massive player for us going forward though. There are one or two rumours suggesting that his advisors want a cast iron buy out clause inserted into his contract in case Real Madrid or Barcelona come calling  :glare:
We need more signings of this calibre now though, with our rivals getting the likes of Sanchez, Fabregas, Costa, Shaw etc we seriously need to aim a bit higher. We have got a lot of uber-talented prospects in our squad but for the first time in well over a decade we don't have a genuine world class player in our starting XI.
