Links there to alleged targets in Grameiro, Sakho, Alonso......
Personally I think re-signing Alonso would be a mistake. I don't think he'd fit with BR's philosophy....

yeah much better sticking With Joe Allen and Lucas !!!

so is there only one team per country in the Europa league then, I'm a bit confused now, because there was more than that this year.

3 teams - sometimes 4. Both the winners of the cups and the 5th place in the league.

Swansea won the League Cup. That's one place in Europa League. The winners of the FA cup will be the second. If they are already in Europe, then it will be the FA Cup runners-up. If they're in Europe as well, then the sixth placed team in the PL will qualify. So that's two. And 5th place makes it three.

Well going by the FA cup draw then only the 5th place will get the Europa league spot. Anyway isn't this upposed to be the rumour mill not a Europa league discussion

According to Tony Barrett at The Times, Rodgers is working with the scouting department to put together an extensive shortlist which currently includes Ashley Williams, Ben Arfa, Christian Eriksen, Lazar Markovic, De Vrij and Bruno Martins Indi. He also mentions that Suso is likely to go out on a season long loan next year.

I've heard something similar, and to be honest, that's quite an exciting list.  That's also upwards of about £60-70 million worth of transfers it seems, so if we are going after those players there will definitely be some selling of players.  Feel we'll sell Carroll, probably Spearing, maybe even Shelvey, but there's gotta be more plans if we were to want all of those guys.

I don’t think the assertion is that we want all of them, they are simply on a short list. For example, there are 3 centre backs on the list, it’s unlikely we would want to add all three. Its an either or situation.

Would be thrilled with Ben Arfa or Christian Erikson. I don't think Newcastle will want to sell him though. I know Erikson wants out of Ajax so that may be a little more realistic.

Not too familiar with De Vrij or Indi, but they're young and talented center backs. Considering the way vertonghen has taken to the premier league, we should take a punt on one of these two (doubt we can get both as they both play for Feyenoord) and then also bring in an older, more experienced center back (Ash Williams who is 28 maybe?).

Would love if we tried to bring in Erik Lamela.

De Vrij is quality - would take him in a flash.

Same with Eriksson

Ben Arfa seems to spend most of the time injured

Really only know Cristian Eriksson and Ben Arfa. I would love to have them both at Anfield next year. Whether thats possible or if we have to sell first is another story. This summer we should be adding quality especially to our back line.

Not sure if I would want Ben Arfa, good player but since he's been here he's hasn't exactly set the prem alight. Christian Eriksen , on the little I've seen of him, at 21 is a fantastic prospect, I'd be happy to see us splash the cash to get him but I think he's got his heart set on a move to one of the top Spanish sides.

Ben Arfa is out for the rest of the season. It'd be a brave and risky decision to still go after him, though it doesn't seem to be a major injury....

I disagree.

If you need an operation for a hamstring injury there must be serious issues. Hamstring injuries are almost never operation candidates, usually time and therapy.

He's a great player but this injury raises warning signs, I would keep well away and let someone else take the risk. I bet Newcastle would snap our hands off to offload a player with this level of injury.

Ben Arfa wants to go to PSG - that is where he will more than likely end up.

Our summer transfers will prob focus on the defensive side of the squad

I don't think we have a chance to get someone like Eriksson
