Shane Long? Not for me mate. He's a good honest player and has some good attributes but he's not top class. No point trimming the squad to then replace them with players of his calibre imo.  He'd cost more money than he's worth too given he's at another premiership team.

I think there's better quality and value for money to be found abroad and we should be looking to Spain, Germany, Holland and France.  Look at the likes of Cabaye, Michu and Cisse for example.

We'd be mugs to shop in the Premiership on our budget I reckon.

I read he rejected our contract offer. Not sure whether he made that decision when Rodgers was in place or not, I suspect not as he would have been a cert for starting in the league based on the number of youth we have started so far.

Lots of news sources saying our pursuits are Sturridge and Ince.

I'm glad we didn't get Dempsey.
He is NOT a striker and he's only really had 1 good year (2 at best) before the age of 29.

Tom Ince, Walcott and Sturridge are decent players but none of them excite me at all.  All young players with good pace and unproven in terms of end product at the top level.

Walcott and Sturridge are unhappy at their respective clubs because they want to play centrally and not wide in a front three...as long as Luis is here they're not getting a central starting place here either!  Ince I'm not sure about.  Looks good in the Championship but the Premiership is a big step up.  Would be a bit of a stinger paying the reported 6 mil given we released him not long ago!

Like I've said before... better quality and value for money abroad.

Downing, Henderson, Carroll, Adam, Keane, Konchesky....granted we've bought some poor players from abroad too but we don't half have bad luck when we buy British/Irish players over the last few years, plus the price for them is ridiculous. 

If you want to play tiki taka football or whatever the f.ck you call it, why the hell would you buy British players??!!!
