i said strong in the middle of midfield - gerrard, lucas, aquilani, cole can al play through the middle and in the formation BR normally uses only need 1/2 of the 4 to be defensive. i think our imediate concern has to be the flanks because downing hasn't cut it and bellamy does have the legs

Having numbers doesnt make us strong - Lucas is the only guarantee in the middle - Gerrard is coming towards the end and we wont get a full season out of him, Cole and Aquilani offer us nothing. We have no goals from the midfield - we have no one to work inbetween the lines and create - that is what we would get from Sigurdsson. Forget the wide areas - Sigurdsson is what we needed plus a striker and another DM.

Really did you call for sigurdson to be bought before BR came to us? 

Joe Cole plays between the lines and had a really good season last year, plus he's already a part of the squad so cost us nothing. i also think Aquilani alongside Lucas and gerrard would work in the middle.

I'm not saying we won't need to replace players like gerrard, bellamy, cole, carra but they are not needing replacing now. we don't have wide players so i think we need to strengthen what we havn't got instead of looking at replacing what we have.

You need to move on anyway because he's picked Spurs over us so what's your next choice? Someone else who's signed for another team that we can't have?

Cole did ok in the French league in the team that regulary won the title ( apart from last season when Cole was there ) , he has done f*ck all of any significance for years in the prem now due to his injuries.

Aquilani has been a Liverpool player for 3 years yet has played only 8 or so games for us

If we go into the season expecting those two to be our creative players then we are fecked.

We need goals from midfield - width we have Downing and Bellamy.

who gives a feck. I'm a little concerned only by the fact that if we really wanted him why couldn't we get him? It stops there tho, I wouldn't have put him on my shopping list before Rodgers nor would I put him on it after - there's better out there. His loss, wearing Liverpool red is a privelage he'll never experience, tough sh!t for him

Gylfi has either been offered a much better contract by Spurs or we have found a better option
and backed away from the deal.

This playmaker position is a key piece in the Rodgers vision for Liverpool so they will no doubt
they will be pursuing a number of players for that role.

Doubt they will pin their hopes on Acqua or Cole given both players did nothing in their short
time here and have been costly and difficult to deal with hence being loaned out to temporarily
remove the problems.

Just finding the right man now who can pull the strings and make this team tick.

i agree totally that the lad doesn't deserve to wear the red shirt is it's all about the wages  and love the fact that none of our business is being done through the papers. Noone has a clue what we are up to.

Although i hope that's becuase we are doing things behind closed doors rather than not doing anything

Well I can only tell you what actually came from the mouth of Adam himself. LFC have been in touch and have talked about a move. After that it's anyones guess.

Has it not just happened.

We offered a low wage and the player went elsewhere - not really ***** is it.

An extra 10 grand is what they offered. We offered 30-40 grand for the first season and a performance related pay rise to 50 during the second season - Spurs offered the 50 straight away.

Lille has won the league 3 times in total. In 1945, 1953 and 2010. So once in 50 years is regularly winning the title?
Not that i think Cole will do anything for us.

He has been good the few times he has been allowed to play. He could be good for us if given a chance, and i think he will fit into b-rods plans.

We need goals from midfield - width we have Downing and Bellamy.

Downing dont provide goals, assists or anything else, and Bellamy wont be available for most games.

We could use a sub for lucas, a creative midfielder and a winger or two, but we have better cover in central midfield. We can argue about the quality of most of the central midfielders but we are unlikely to sell most of them this season. If we cant afford to pay sigurdsson more than 25k a week i wonder if we can afford to pay all those midfielders without using any of them.
