I have a hunch it's going to be AVB.

if it`s not rafa or guardiola i`ll never go another game and i mean that.
if kenny has been f**ked off for a martinez or a AVB then the club isnt the same one i started supporting

would love to have Guardiola back, not sure about Rafa, might do well in if he does return but I still don't trust his ego.

Oh.. Shankly's legacy is long gone mate, ever since Moores sold us out for those two clowns

benitez`s ego? i dont think he had one!! he wasnt a self publicist like mourinho.

fair enough.

the likes of lambert, rodgers and martinez are all decent young managers. they all still have a hell of a lot to prove imo. i can see villa going for lambert.

:D , true, but I meant I'm just skeptical if he would work well with owners like FSG and if they decide to get a DOF, would he be ok with it? just skeptical, Rafa never struck me as a ''Yes'' man

would be an interesting choice.

personally i think he's a lot better than he was allowed to display at chelsea. he was treated like garbage there by fans and players alike. i'd like to see what he could do at a club with the fans and players fully behind him.

yeah thats true, i dont think he`d like a comoli telling him who he should buy.
the yanks can have a yes man if thats what they really want, but the best managers like ferguson, benitez and bill `the board are there just to sign the cheques` shankly tend to be their own men.

As someone who was in floods of tears when Rafa was sacked and couldn't eat or sleep properly for two days, I want Rafa back because I never thought he should have left. Sure his last season in charge wasn't spectacular, but I felt he was so close to achieving success and I feel had he been given £100m worth of investment that he'd have created a brilliant team that would be challenging for the title. Rafa Benitez despite his "poor" last season and short stint at Inter Milan is not a poor manager. A poor manager doesn't win two La Liga titles in 3 years with Valencia or a Champions League trophy with a vastly inferior squad to most teams in Europe.

i agree mate but they`ll go for a yes man, they wont want anyone who will tell their precious DoF to get to f**k
ayres still at the club as well, wasnt he there with purslow etc when they forced rafa out and brought hodgson in? great move that was. keep the beancounter but get rid of the man who gave us our club back. benitez is the only man who`s worked for this club in the past decade who`s decisions have been proven to be right.
i still cant believe they f**ked kenny off tbh.

Football is a business not a sport anymore mate. It all comes down to making money and being successful (instantly), there's little or no margin for error. I don't like seeing any manager sacked but with Kenny you assumed it was a possibility given the fact that fourth was the minimum expectation.

they dont want to push that `it`s a business` malarky too far down fans throats mate because fans might start asking themselves `if this sport now is all about cold hard finance why am i spending 50 quid to watch 22 multi millionaires kick a bag of wind around a pitch?`

Someone please tell me how and why FSG, the business geniuses who decided to let one of most successful managers ever leave because he failed to qualify for the CL, could possibly consider Martinez or AVB to replace KK?
Take your time and think carefully about the answer please?

It's not them pushing it down the fans throats mate, that's just the way it is. Football is a multi-billion pound industry, it's a business and clubs now have to adopt business like strategies to raise revenue so they can become competitive on the field. That's why it's important that this club sells itself as a brand name, builds a new stadium and puts trophies in the cabinet. FSG will treat this club as a business, they have a business model set up and won't accept second best, they don't care who the manager is. They'll back the manager in the transfer market, but they expect results. The results last season under Kenny were deemed unsatisfactory by FSG and as a result the manager paid the price. They are clearly here to win things and generate a nice princely sum of money, they are not Liverpool supporters who deal in sentimentality, they are cut-throat businessmen who see this club as an asset and they want to make their asset as valuable as possible and that means bringing in a manager who will deliver what they want quickly and effectively. Kenny didn't do that this season and FSG feel that it is time for a change. As I say it's not something I agree with, but that's the way it is.

If they are cut throat businessmen then theyd better get the best money can buy because Martinez or AVB aint gunna make their asset more valuable.

I can't see it happening because apart from anything else I think the owners would be reluctant to hire another former manager who a large section of supporters still revere. If today's decision has soured their relationship with the fans, they would face a potential backlash of G&H proportions if they hired Rafa and subsequently decided it wasn't the correct choice, or if they came into conflict with him in some way, say as a consequence of appointing a DOF that Rafa was against. It looks too big a risk.
