The Sunday Mirror reports the Toon MD’s disparaging verdict on England striker Carroll came when he was giving a group of Newcastle fans an insight into the £35million deal that took the England striker to Liverpool  in January.

Llambias insists that Newcastle got the better of the deal.

The Anfield club’s first bid was £30m and Llambias told the fans: “I have to admit that £30m for Andy Carroll is a lot of money.”

When one supporter asked him “Is he worth £30m?” Llambias responded: “No — he’s worth f*** all.” He then explains that after rejecting the £30m offer, Newcastle refused to sell even for £35m unless Liverpool paid the entire fee up front.

A move that forced Liverpool to ask Chelsea to increase their first instalment of the £50m they had already agreed to pay for Fernando Torres!

Llambias explained: “It is about control.

“We had the control. We knew the Torres deal was there.

“We drew that f****** deal, perhaps the ultimate.

“So £30m? F*** off! Don’t waste my time and I slammed the phone down.

£35m? Everybody including Pardew [manager Alan Pardew] all agreed.

“But the £35m they wanted to pay over four years. It was rubbish. Mike (Ashley) said — and he is a brave boy Mike I promise you — get all the £35m up front.

“We got it all up front and then they never paid us on time and we charged them 12 grand f****** interest.”

12 grand interest just to put the cherry on top of the cake. Newcastle, a basket case of a club, have carried out the biggest p'sstake in transfer history,

I will dance a merry jig when the geordie imposter is out the door.

LOL..Andy Carroll was their top scorer. Worth f*** all? Why would they reject £30m for someone worth f*** all, yet a 5m increase seals the deal? F***ing geordies....too much Broon Ale I tells ya.

How much would we get for him?

Realistically?

Anything past 12-15m is pipe dream.

The only option is loan to a direct team (Stoke) and hope he succeeds there and they take him for 15.

In sayin that they signed Crouch for 10, and hes better than Carroll, so its unlikely they would go as high as 15. I have no idea how we can recoup less than half the money.

I think Andy will be with us next year. It'd be idiocy (or Chavski-esque) to pay as much as we paid and only give the 22 year old a season. Economically or strategically...just wouldn't make any sense to take any less than what we paid. If we cut our losses? Well...i'd take no less than £25m. The service to Andy has been terrible all season. But then everything we've done has been terrible this season. At least Andy's fit in with the theme of complete failure  :D

Patience and faith.

I think its unlikely we sell him too. We would take too much of a financial loss if we sold him now.

i said realistic

agree with 10 mart (that would be the minimum we would accept).

I personally think 10m is inflated for him. He was available for 2m in August 2009, had a year in the dean windass championship, and then got 11 goals getting on the end of stuff in a direct team.

That doesnt speak 10m to me, especially when a better player Peter Crouch cost 10m (slightly older yes).

lets simplify this for thommo gents.

fash the bash... "carroll needs to bash defenders"...

:rasp

I know its doing the rounds, but no harm informing everyone again of the FA's new directive; Anyone seen passing to Andy Carroll will get booked for time wasting.

You have a problem with Centre forwards using physical strength against defenders
I would have thought that rough stuff would turn you on?

that was a good one d--c. But unless your next effort is equally as good then I wouldnt encourage you posting anymore in this thread.

Regarding Carroll, I dont see us selling him unless he starts demanding more first team football.I said elsewhere that he could become a devastating prospect coming off the bench and I still believe that It was a mistake paying as much as we have for him, but selling him now for less than half what we paid would be equally as bad. His value will go up from its current level in the coming years and I still wouldnt rule out him turning into a good striker.

listen D_C, we know your views on andy carroll. we knew them about 500 of your posts ago back when you were called something else, and in all the posts since then you've not added a single worthwhile argument to your views. your views are fine, by the way, you can have them. we all know that andy carroll hasn't delivered what we needed and wanted, at least not so far. and no, the signs don't look good either. but the important point you seem to be missing is that he's not the sole reason for our plight and despite his limitations he's one of the few that actually seems to be trying.

so now, could you do us all a favour and shut the f*ck up with your endless, pointless and boring drivel that only serves to satisfy your need to twist the knife? every time you feel the need to slag him off a little bit more try and think of something more constructive to do, will you?
