i really dont understand why downing is being linked away, get him some competition for sure but it isnt an area that needs addressing in this window.
id rather the club just stuck to getting whats needed rather than embarking on what appears to be phase 3 of the wage cull.

not half mate! i havent heard these rumours about downing being on the verge of going but given the noises emanating out of spain it`s looking like there`s a distinct possibility that we may lose both suarez and reina this summer.
losing 2 big characters like that (especially on the back of carragher hanging up his boots) would be a huge blow and it would leave a big hole in our squad to fill.
it just means that there will be a lot of pressure on the club to make the right signings, if we lose players like suarez, reina and even downing and make some bad decisions in the transfer market (which can easily happen to any club) it will knock us back considerably.
this summer could be huge, one of the most important in our recent history.

This summer is the time from strengthen areas where we are weak as opposed to mass changes. Get the quality in that improves our defence and if there are funds left over then look at the front line.

Getting rid of Downing and bringing in an unproven kid isn't what we need to see - bring in the unproven kid and then ease him in whilst Downing is still there to provide the experience

hope he's another michu. scoring 20 goals in a team that's going down is no mean feat.

I can't wait for board member who also conveniently is also a resident expert on him, to pop up on here claiming to have followed him for his whole career...

in the echo the other day it said he`d scored 11! he must have banged a couple of hat tricks in this week.  :D
i know you cant tell from youtube clips but this fella doesnt look anything special to me mate.
i think this fella has got borini mark II written all over him. if we are losing downing to fulham i`d much rather we went for someone like brian ruiz instead.
£9m isnt a fee to be sniffed at either!

We can only buy players that want to come here no matter what the price is.

Aspas looks a similar type to Suarez to me but only time will tell if he is a direct
replacement or simply a  like for like swap as back up, but normally you would
have a few that each offer something different.

It's 9 million euros. Got a decent goal scoring record considering he plays for one of the weaker sides in La Liga and sometimes plays out wide. About 50 goals in 140 appearances.

9 million? If we had that kind of money, I rather we spent it on someone more proven. A bit more and we can sign a class player, someone like Eriksen (or the Dane himself). I think it's OK, trying to find the next Michu, but Michu was bought for 2 million not 10! It's a big risk spending this much money on someone we've never heard of.

Only 12 in the top flight. The rest were scored in the Segunda League.

Our biggest worry will be when our friendly neighbours realise his full name

A 25 year old who has been playing second div football for £9mil !!

Why hasn't he been picked up by a big team in Spain or even had recognition at international level at any age !

I'm not sure really what to make of this signing

Could have spent £1mil or so and got Ricki Lambert who has at least shown he can score in the prem or Jay Rodrigues !

the more video`s i watch of this fella the more underwhelmed i become, when i watched youtube clips of coutinho you could see how well balanced he was and how comfortable he was on the ball, this fella sways all over the place like a drunken sailor and he looks like he is constantly fighting to keep control of the ball.
even his goals, he doesnt seem to be a creative finisher a la robbie fowler, he just hits them straight at the keeper and somehow the ball squirms under them, god knows how many chances he needs to score with finishing like that, keepers must save ten efforts for every one that goes in.
we reportedly had a transfer warchest of around £20m (plus any money we can generate from sales) and we blow almost half of it on this fella?
this is a classic case of LFC turning up late to the party again, in the 90`s arsenal raided france and signed some top, top quality players, we tried to do the same and spent a fortune on a gang of no hopers, swansea find a cheap gem playing in the lower reaches of the spanish league so what to we do? we try do the same, except we spend 4 times as much on someone probably no where near as good.
with the news about suarez and reina this had already been a bad day, blowing half our budget on this fella has made it worse.
if this is the best those scouts from city can find then god help us.
