Van Wolfswinkle?  That's a pretty big name.  Plus we can all giggle like 12 years old every time we hear the name.  "hehe, Wolfswinkle"

I'd be disappointed as hell.  Honestly, one of the most overrated players right now.  He goes down easier than ronaldo at his worst, and the last thing we need is another player for everybody to hate, and another player for the refs to never give anything to.  We've got a big enough target on us already.

apparently tony barrett and bascombe are both saying liverpool offered fulham jordan henderson in a swap deal for dempsey.
bascombe is saying we offered them henderson+cash.
henderson didnt want to go to fulham so it fell through.
that is ridiculous, dempsey is 29, henderson is 22.

^ Hendo may not be doing anything for us right now, but he's young and I have no doubt that in a few years, he'll become a player for us.  Even tho I'd love Dempsey in, I don't wanna lose Hendo.  That's one I know we'd really regret in a few years.

I hope this isn't true, but damn, it seems like every player other than Suarez and Gerrard are available.

best tweet of the day so far

The Carroll deal was confirmed tonight {last night} because Jim White's parents allowed an overexcited Jim White to open one transfer early.

Well, now that Andy Carroll has  gone (albeit) on a season long loan, BR would not have allowed it to happen, if he did not already have a player or players lined up, so, with the transfer window being closed later  today, i'm waiting with excitement as to the player(s) that will arrive.....

Dempsey will definetely Arrive. I got a feeling an 11th hour suprise may come in perhaps in the shape of Fernando Llorente

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes he is close to agreeing a loan deal for Daniel Sturridge - but Chelsea need to find a replacement before he is allowed to leave.

Sources at Liverpool have told ESPN that Sturridge is ready to make the move to Anfield, even though there have been reports of Arsenal and Tottenham making a late bid for the services of the striker. who will celebrate his 23rd birthday on Saturday.

Bayern Leverkusen forward Andre Schurrle has emerged as a key man in this transfer saga, with Chelsea believed to be close to tying up a £20 million deal for the young Germany international.

Once that transfer is confirmed, Sturridge will be free to tie up a loan move that will bring his bench-warming duties at Stamford Bridge to an end.

Liverpool boss Rodgers has been chasing Sturridge's signature all summer and his decision to allow Andy Carroll to complete a loan move to West Ham on Thursday night suggests he is confident of completing the deal to bring the England forward to Anfield on transfer deadline day.

I really hope we put in a buy out clause if we are seriously going after Sturridge. A decent enough player and one who will improve our starting 11 but I'm not too sure about the whole bringing players in on loan without having the option of signing them if they do well.

If we're going to play 3 upfront then we need to have around 6 players who are good enough and arent already starting for us in a different position (so no Gerrard or Johnson)...

Atm, we have : (1)Downing   (2)Suarez    (3)Borini    (4)Sterling     (5)Assaidi ?

I reluctantly put Assaidi in there since I dont know enough about him to either endorse him or dismiss him just yet. The fact that he hasnt even made the bench for us yet, coupled with his reported fee of 1 or 2 mill is a bit of a concern for me. The other players I left out of that list are Cole and Morgan. Both for me arent good enough and I dont think either will get much playing time this season.

We could really do with 2 new signings at least one of whom should be good enough to slot straight into the starting 11. If we do manage to sign both Sturridge and Dempsey I'd be very happy with the options we have at least in the short term.

Obviously going forward we'll need to consider bringing in a top striker and perhaps a top winger but given our reported lack of funds, those deals will at least give us options to keep us competitive this season.
