Sky Sports understands Liverpool's move for free agent midfielder Mohamed Diame is back on.


Mohamed Diame: Free agent
Diame, who played at Wigan in the 2011/12 season, is one of the top Bosmans around this summer and a host of clubs are after the Senegal international.

The move appeared to have collapsed following the sacking of former Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish.

However, new manager Brendan Rodgers has given the green light for the deal, as he is a big fan of the midfielder.

Liverpool could face competition from Aston Villa for Diame, with Paul Lambert keen to sign him after taking over at Villa Park.

A bit more detail would have been nice. Is Diame as good as Momo?

Haven't seen much of Diame, Moses I like tricky wide player with pace who can score goals.
Only doubts are we have to deal with Whelan and I also rated N'Zogbia who has done little at Villa.

Just been researching Diame a little. Apparently he's got a dodgy ticker (ask scumbag Whelan, he's doing airtime about this), this was the reason Barca never went in for him.

Just seen some youtube clips (I know I know), but he does look VERY powerful and has DRIVE in his game. Something IMO our midfield doesn't have anymore, since Gerrard's better years are behind him. None of Lucas, Adam, Henderson offer us drive in midfield - to me, he looks more of a 'box to box' midfielder, he can finish to and has a good touch.

IMO he looks 'more' Viera-esq than Momo-esq but that's only form youtube.

Johnson is definately not worth 16m, wouldn't even consider it based on the money we have splashed on over-hyped British players!

I would take him for no less than 10m, if we can get rid of Downing that would be the cherry on top.

Diame is on a free but at 24 years of age he hasn't set the world on fire so I don't think he is right player we should be wasting salary money on.

Moses doesn't seem like a big time player, has a good engine and can take players on with his speed but isn't the tricky "unlocking" wing player we need.

Also been hearing rumours on Sturridge for 15m, no no and NO! For that kind of money we could bring in a player from the continent / sth america that is twice as good as Sturridge.

I am getting really frustrated at hearing about English, over-priced nonsense. It didn't work last time and it won't work this time either............
