Well if thats true, then Torres is not going to Man City.  I hope he causes a lot of problems in their dressing room.

Reds linked with German international
By Zain Alvi | 25th July 2010

Reds linked with German international

Following the departure of Emiliano Insua and Fabio Aurelio, Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has admitted that the club’s first priority is to sign a player who can operate effectively down the left flank. Therefore, it is only logical to expect the media to link the Reds to a new player every day.

The latest player to be linked with a move to Anfield is versatile German international Marcell Jansen. The 24-year-old Hamburg player has played in several positions throughout his Bundesliga career, and like Aurelio, is known to often switch between playing midfield and defense.

Despite already being linked to former Tottenham winger Reto Ziegler, Hodgson has not confirmed the name of the player who will officially be unveiled at Anfield in the coming days. So far, the former Fulham boss has only acknowledged that the void left by Insua and Aurelio needs to be filled as soon as possible.

“We need to find a replacement for Emiliano [Insua] and Fabio [Aurelio]. That is one job we will have to do,” Hodgson said about this situation last week.

apparently he has posted the following on his facebook page;

“I will soon be joining Liverpool. I hope I will have a good season.”

Not sure how much truth there is behind it.

Be very happy with that, he would be a big upgrade on Insua for me.

Not so sure about this Drenthe rumour to be honest!

Very good player though, would be very surprised if this rumour is true.

Drenthe played against us in pre-season in 2007/8... he tore us apart with his pace. He's way better than Insua and under used by Real Madrid. He'll be a great player for us...

Also....The player's agent, Jean-Marc Goiran, has confirmed that a "deal is almost in place with Liverpool" for the 27 year-old Figueroa

I dont like him, got a massive big ego and is disliked by the Madrid fans, they booed him a few times, Hes a big mate of Babels into that same rapping stuff, And a few seasons ago Stevie got into a bit of a set to with him, Im sorry but he is another one along the lines of Babel who showed early on he had a bit of talent and then showed nothing,

Liverpool are prepared to go toe-to-toe with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur to land England youth international Connor Wickham, according to The People.

The 17-year old is rated as one of the best young strikers outside the Premier League and Ipswich Town are rumoured to have already knocked back a £8 million bid from Spurs this summer. With Arsene Wenger also a fan, Wickham was expected to be playing his football in north London in the immediate future.

Reds manager Roy Hodgson is determined to beat those clubs to the target man's signature and has requested his board submit an £8.5 million to Roy Keane's side.

The former Fulham boss plans to use Liverpool's status to buy the centre forward, after being knocked back when he tried to snap him up last season.
