Players like that will only be tempted by lucrative clauses paying out upon CL qualification. Can be very costly.

It also depends on the competition. We seemingly beat a host of clubs to the signature of Suarez despite no CL football and little prospect of it the following season (12 pts behind fourth-placed Chelsea). With a much better chance of making the top four this season, perhaps we might be a more attractive proposition to players like Cavani than we're led to think?

If managers phoned other managers to validate rumours, they would never be off the phone.
We offered to match the fee villa paid, they turned it down. They want cash up front of £25m plus add ons.

Kenny then said he wasnt intereted.

still phew tho.

Afraid i don't know Kenny. I do know a lot of the villa squad tho.

Darren has been quite open about things. The club have been honest with him, and he hasn't expressed a desire to leave, so has nothing to keep quite about.

nobody on here has got a slight clue to how Bent will respond to playing with OUR team. no one! just cos you don't like the look of him in Villa colours don't mean he'll be sh!t for us. different team, different surroundings could just turn Bent into a world class striker instead of one that just finds the net.

I think he's looked like the standout of the Blackburn side (in an attacking sense) when I've bothered to watch the drab sh!te they offer, haven't heard much from him for a while lately tho
