Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

I think it is messed up when players wind down their contract like Owen did, it messes with their legacy and I bet he would rather have the Love of Liverpool fans right now than the couple of million he made extra that he added to a big pile of millions. I bet now he is thinking he should have done it differently. He is not loved by any sets of supporters.

If they want to leave is fair enough but they should do it in a way that the club can benefit also, especially these days. It affects the club’s bottom line and ability to replace with good players. It’s not about taking profit from the owners anymore, it’s now calculated by FFP rules and affects the club going forward. You could say that they are now taking from the supporters.

IF ANY of Trent, Salah or Virgil does not sign a new contract this summer, they should be trashed in the press and sold right away.
The club can't afford to be held hostage by the players and can't afford to lose them for nothing....

The silence regarding any transfers is DEAFENING at the moment.

I read somewhere that we are the only club (apart from Fulham) in the PL that have not made a signing so far - not sure if it's true but the lack of confirmation of any concrete interest in a proper 6 and a  ball playing CB at least is very depressing if not downright negligent.

It loks like FSG are going to go fulls swing with their miserly approach to transfers this window. I wouldn't be surprised if Trent , VVD and Salah all decide to go at this rate or at least wind down their contracts for a big pay day.

Why stay at a club whose main ambition is  to buy from the bargain basement , balance the books ...and oh ..top 4 as well.

FSG have deffo taken all the fun out of transfer windows, the vast majority of them under their tenure have been underwhelming, even when we have spent a few quid its usually off the back of one of our better players leaving.

Didn't that Hughes lad say something like it would be end of July or August before we were going to be active in the market. Hoping we do something decent but have my doubts tbh as we are reactive in the transfer markets rather than pro active. On top of that I really believe that our policy is to spend as little as we can ahead of what's best for the team.

Bit of a joke what we are doing with trent tbh and how did they let it get to this. One of your biggest assets inside 12 months of their current deal. Now its all in the players court and he will walk to Madrid for free next summer and we get nothing. We are the Kings of letting players walk for free which is another joke considering how we operate.

I think we have these talks with Trent, VVD and Salah that we need to sort out before we buy anyone. Those three will fundamentally change the makeup of the team if any of them go. I’d bet the holdup is those three and they are all still on a break.

I think Salah & Virgil are close to being past their use by dates tbh. Need to be careful in handing a deal to them that doesn't see us stuck with massive wages when that happens.

If we can get 150-200m for both I’d take it as crazy as it may sound. 200m for a new era in young players the manager wants would be a good long term strategy. VVD has a big ego so it will be interesting to see how he follows the new coach’s instructions or whether he may turn toxic. I never saw VVD as a coach’s player like Hendo was but as a captain he will have to be. Also his interview saying he’ll see how it goes before deciding is not a good look for a captain.

I don’t mind taking a step backwards to move forwards.

It is a disaster ff the team goes into the first match of the seaspn with all 3 players situations unresolved imo. At that stage the club is screwed and the players will have all the leverage. Losing all 3 for nothing would be devastating and I see it as MAJOR incompetence if they're allowed to do that....

Few noises today that we are looking to tie up a deal for Kubo at Sociedad.

Par for the course if its true, sign unknowns and cross your fingers that they turn out like Salah /Mane ...this strategy will only work so many times.

Liverpool target Goncalo Inacio

Liverpool have reportedly made Sporting Lisbon centre-back Goncalo Inacio their new transfer priority after missing out on Leny Yoro to Manchester United.

According to the Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha, the Reds are preparing an offer worth around £25m for Inacio.

However, they will likely have to cough up a higher fee, considering the 22-year-old's release clause is worth double that.

Sporting are said to be willing to compromise, though, which could lead to quick negotiations.

Looked at his highlights reel and he’s heavily left footed like Salah, actually plays similar also.
