Don't think he's worth the £100K/WK salary but that's why you want a good agent for. I've seen the club squander more money on useless f*ck in the squad so if we can get a good clause attached (eg, buy out clause of £70M, no sale to PL teams etc) then I would rather we pay him, and the likes of guys such as Can, Coutinho and Ibe

100k is the price of buying media interest not just his footy value.

Beckham and Ronaldo are/were great players but their packages reflected the sponsorship and media value they brought, not their football.

So without a Gerrard, Carra, Suaraez media interest Liverpool look pretty boring these days. If the media wants to make Sterling the next England local hero then thats good for LFC as well in hype value. 100k then is greater than his football value but will be justified when he brings in an additional 50 million of sponsorship and media air time over the course of a year.

Look at this Harry Kane lad, 4 weeks ago I'd never heard of him, media experts will tell you how many mentions he's made in the laast 4 weeks on media sites, papers, tv time etc.. what is the value of that to Spurs? As usual it's business not just footy.

Word is his agent is holding out for 130k a week for sterling. If I were the club, I'd tell his agent to feck off...

if I were the club I'd say the offer drops by £10,000 a day until you sign and you will be sidelined(injured)until sold in the summer and give Ibe a pay rise...

don't think its really fair that public opinion turns against sterling because of hearsay and conjecture

He's improving all the time. Nowhere near the finished article and while I understand many objecting to him getting a huge contract given what he offers now (which is still quite a bit more than any other player), I think the offer is a reflection of a number of different variables (potential, sponsorship, etc.) that also need to be taken into account. I expect him to sign a new contract and I dont really think that an extra 20k or so should/will be a deal-breaker for either party.

Please explain how ??

Raheem and his agent are trying to hold the club to ransom. The kid is 20 years old and has looked like a rising star but thats it. His finishing is woeful his attitude is worse

And what evidence of any of this do you have apart from whats written in the tabloids? How do you know he has a bad attitude? Raheem is arguarbly our biggest star now and is entitled to be one of the clubs top earners. What i would question is why Rodgers and the club are making his contract talks public knowledge when he has 2 years to run of his deal and it could have been kept in house.

How do i know he has a bad attitude? When he constantly walks round the pitch like he has been here for years scoring 30+ goals in constant seasons. He is one of the younger members of the squad but acts like he is one of the more senior.

This should of been done in house the media get hold of it and it becomes a circus. BTW don't believe a word you read. If the rumours are true and he is holding out for more sell him the greedy t.wat. NO player is bigger than the club ask Owen Torres and Suarez

I have no trust that we will tie him down to a new deal.

This smells like the McManaman and Owen debacle all over again.

And yet if he leaves for free you lot will still be defending the owners and Ayre to the hilt.  :no

Hey all. I dont post many rumours. But. Heard from a reliable source that Sterling is off to Barcelona. Barca reps at Anfield as we speak :(
A: better be at least 65 million
B: spend it on one player. Not 20!
C: i hope im wrong :(

Barcelona’s transfer ban means they can’t buy any players until January 2016. In any case, Sterling and his advisors are not stupid enough to think he could dislodge one of Messi, Suarez or Neymar, who are all in their 20s and not leaving Barca anytime soon.

I would think that if Sterling does end up leaving it would be for Chelsea. He would get in the team ahead of the likes of Willian, get a good wage, challenge for the title and Champions League, and be able to relocate back to London.

Saying that, I think he’ll sign a new contract within a couple of months.
