The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby SouthCoastShankly » Fri Apr 20, 2007 8:38 am

Saw this on BBC Sport this morning regarding the Arsenal board resisting an American takeover.

Hill-Wood said: "Why don't we want the American at our club? Call me old-fashioned, but we don't need his money and we don't want his sort.

"Our objective is keep Arsenal English, but with a lot of foreign players."

Now call me old fashioned but he cannot be serious. Arsenal are the least English club in the league solely for the reason that for the majority of games each season they struggle to field 1 English player!

Lunacy!

Well they do have a very English manager??? ......

There aren't any truly English clubs in the Premiership anymore anyway, everyone has to have foreign players in order to be competitive, back in the old days there were hardly any foreigners, just Scottish, Welsh, Irish and English but everyone has to move with the times...
