Grumbling chelski players - Discontent in the camp

The Premiership - General Discussion

This is fun reading!

Alex Ferguson may have been given an early Christmas gift as there is already a dissenting voice in the Chelski camp. He did predict this as a way to goad them but not even he will have envisioned it to happen this early. From the Guardian:-

Carvalho opens his heart and wallet

Early mutterings of discontent emerge from Chelsea camp

The first mutterings of discontent emerged yesterday from within Chelsea's squad when Ricardo Carvalho criticised Jose Mourinho for not beginning the season with him in the team.
Mourinho reacted with anger and surprise and will not only demand an explanation but fine Carvalho, sending a strong message that he will not tolerate such dissent.

Carvalho, a £19.85m purchase from Porto in 2004, may have upset team-mates as well by saying he did not understand why he was in a group including Robert Huth, Joe Cole and Tiago, who also failed to start at Wigan.

Sir Alex Ferguson predicted that Chelsea would struggle to keep all their players satisfied in a World Cup season but not even the United manager can have expected problems to surface this quickly.
"I want to know why I didn't play," Carvalho said. "How can I explain when I don't understand it? Sincerely, I gave a lot of thought and time to myself but cannot find a valid explanation. It's totally incomprehensible.

"I don't understand why Mourinho said I have to wait for another opportunity to play this season. I don't understand the reason he put me in a group including Robert Huth, Joe Cole and Tiago. The Premiership has begun and I will play many games, I have no doubt. It's incomprehensible that I will become third choice."

William Gallas was chosen ahead of Carvalho to partner John Terry on Sunday. "At FC Porto I didn't have an easy life with Mourinho, especially in the year he arrived," Carvalho said. "But in time I recovered my confidence and finished in a big way. I don't want an identical situation at Chelsea."

Now, this will be interesting. One of Moureen's favourite players from Porto has started to challenge his decisions.

Yes, he can help our players score at corners or set pieces by manhandling the opposition goalkeeper. :D

Yes, A.B., he is a solid CB, although I'd choose Gallas ahead of him.

Let's hope this dissenting voice spreads until it becomes voices and watch Chelski FC disintegrate... When that happens, all of the millions will be for nought as sulking players will be worth much less. :D

I think the biggest surprise is its taken this long for stories like this to appear.
With amount of talent that Roman's roubles has bought, it was always going to be hard job to keep all those egos in check.
With a league trophy medal already in their hands and the World cup coming next year i expect it will be a big problem to placate such a large squad

Hope this is only the beginning. Just can't wait to see what happen if Chelski loses couple of games. If they win, the voices are kept down but in reverse, its going to explode. :;):

IMO Carvalho is a world class defender. His tackling abilitites are just superb and he is a modernaized version of a front sweeper (dont ask me where that came from!, but thats my reading of his game).

Understandibly he is upset as he played a big role last season, but that was more due to Gallas playing at LB, so he was automatic first choice for CB. Now our LB spot is well covered so Gallas and Carvalho are both challenging for a spot besides Terry.

IMO the Terry - Gallas partnership is way more successful. They conceded ONE goal last season. Galas is quick, strong and has the ability to keep Henry quiet - something Carvalho might fail at. So its obviouls Gallas is up the pecking order, but I would have thought Ricardo would be on the bench instead of Huth. Maybe it was just for the 1st game and pure tactical reasons.

Anyway, he is Jose's boy and everything is well under controle, there is no panik in the Chelsea camp at all and if people think he might leave they are highly mistaken.

Unfortunatly this will not cause enough disruption to derail their season, IMO. Although this sort of talk is great to hear, I can't see it doing much damage. Chelsea are the only team that can punish a 20 million pound signing, by benching him, without having any effect on the squad, unless of course they get a string of injuries.

A world class defender upset about not being in the squad for the first game of the season -- a bursting bubble?

Erm .. No!

Its just like monday morning bules ...

... everything is calm on our end and there is absolutely nothing to worry about.

What news on your end about the RWF and CB?
