I could probably root round tinternet for this but then ....hey...its a forum right? how many times would we have been crowned champs with 82 points (or equivalent in 2 points for a win days) over the last 17 years. Answers and other points 'off on a tangent' below.

Good post neil, yes I've been looking into this since you brought it up and it seems that we would have actually won the league in the following seasons;
1996 Joint winners
1997 won by 7 pts
1998 won by 4 pts
1999 won by 3 pts
2001 won by 2 pts
2005 ken and dierdrie get married

so you see, this puts the season and the strides made by rafa into perspective.

Good work, Neil.

And I would add to that the fact that the standard of competition is higher now than in thise previous seasons.

WHat I cannot quite work out, though, is how you have arrived at 82 points, when we are on 73!!!!! Am I to assume that you have a crystal globe!?! ??? :p

Aston Villa at home & Portsmouth away left Lando, we would have been crowned champions 5 of the last 10 seasons with the points tally we will surely collect. Says it all really. I am very excited about next season.

Fantastic run we've had the end of this season, whou would have thought we would have won the last 9 games and got the maximum possible 82 points.. absolutely fantastic.. we should be champions  :angry:  we would be if the league started in october

Liverpool have made huge progress this season. 82 point is our best points total in the Premiership ever, and would have won us the Premiership 4 times and made us joint winners once in the past 10 seasons. We had a dodgy start were we were not creating chances, had the league started in October Liverpool would be champions, this shows our improvement through out the season.

Last season we finished 37 points behind the champions, this year we finished 9 points behind the champions. We have achieved 24 more points this season than last season, won 8 more games, lost 8 less, scored 5 more and let in 16 less. We have made a lot of progress and hopefully we can build upon this next year and improve further.
