I think its more of getting the balance right rather than shelling out x amount and leaving the club with silly debts that won't be paid off for a long time

Money doesn't guarantee success, so if you splash out loads of fees and wages, it will be dependant on success to bring stability. I doubt Chlesea can afford their wage bill. Abramovich was dependant on them winning the CL and Prem to pay for all he's put in.

Quite frankly I'd be quite worried about the club's financial stability if someone came in and just started shelling out hundreds of millions on players an then reading the silly wages they're on.

Personally I prefer few changes in the team (once we have a good one). I like to grow attached to the players know how they play and what to expect and have some feeling and affection for them. Something I think we have lost under Rafa and Houllier before him.  Too many changes of personnel as we have had in recent years and you lose the feeling of it being your team and your players (well I do anyway).

While I realise that we can never go back to the days when most players stayed at a club for 8 to 10 years or so, I would prefer that we have a genuine core of players that are Liverpool through and through and stay for 5 to 8 years.

Buying a new team may bring success, but who cares if they are ALL STRANGERS.

You know what. I've been coming here for a while now and have always got on quite well with the vast majority of you. But the freaks that have come out tonight need to get a f*cking clue. I think we might stand a chance of signing one of your players. You lot however seem to find that so abhorrent that you resort to all manner of nasty keyboard warrior foulness that not a one of you would dare say to me face to face. Pathetic.

Then of course i got the ever original 'City money is disgusting' Blah Blah f*cking Blah 'You can only attract Mercenaries' Blah, Blah f*cking Blah. Give it a rest. Do you know how moronic it sounds trying to tell us that our amazing amount of wonga is a bad thing. For you maybe. But for us... Bwwaaaa ha ha ha. I'm :censored: loving it. We've got a Multi Billionaire sitting on 15% of the worlds oil reserves who is not only determined to make City the number one club in the world but is redeveloping the entire eastern quarter of Manchester. That really sounds like someone who is going to up sticks and leave when bored doesn't it?

and while we are on the subject of Citys spending spree. Can any of you tell me just how much Banitez has spent since joining Liverpool? Shall i tell you....

£228,976,000... One rule for one and one for the others is it. The last 18 months has been crazy in terms of our transfer policy we brought in 15 players. Thats not going to happen again. Benitez on the other hand is hands down THE worst manager for buying :censored: in the league. 56 players of which perhaps half a dozen have been a success.

As for the point of 'History'.

Undeniably Liverpool has a great HISTORY but that's exactly what it is...HISTORY. you've done f*ck all since the Premier league was established for a club of your size. One CL trophy in 2005 which you will dine out on for another 20 years. We on the other hand have done :censored: all because we were ran into the ground over 30 years by a succession of inept C*nts. But our future is f*cking beaming. Yours however???

Absolutely anybody in the game who has any clue what they are talking about know what City will be in the very near future. Only Bitter coc*s don't want to admit it.

We will love it. Choke on it, Get fat and greedy and probably, Knowing City, Something will :censored: up along the way and will be left heart broken but so F*cking what. We've been down that road a million times before and we're still here. How many would desert Anfield if you were relegated. Don't ever dare say we are a soulless club with no history. Tell that to Burt Trautman as he wiped a tear from his eye last weekend. We know who we are and those who matter will always be City. Whatever happens. Right now things are fantastic. I'll take that every day thank you very much. But when the bad times roll around again We will be there as we always have, ripping the p*ss out of everyone in the way only City can.... Especially ourselves.

Reply as you will or don't. It's up to you. Suffice to say. The whole 'Torres would never play for another prem league club' simpley doesn't wash with me and if your all absolutely honest. Y'all don't believe it either. You simply find the idea so horrific as not to allow yourselves to believe it.

We are fans and Football means a lot to us. But to the professionals who play the game at its highest level it's all about prestige (CL football) and security for yourself and your family. Club loyalty comes a very distant third i'm afraid. a £60M - £100M bid to your Yank owners I think would be accepted, The lure of CL next season and a £200.000 per week offer to the lad and we will see just how much Loyalty means. You may be right. But ask yourselves this. If a firm was taken over by Bill Gates and he offered you a crazy salary to work for him at a firm in the best place it was possible to be. Would you stick with your old job???.... EXACTLY. Footballers aren't as dumb as they look.

I personally do not think Torres will go, but there are pro's and con's if he does.

He has been injured a lot of this season and when he has played his body language has been poor, one of the things that impressed me in his first season is that defenders would kick lumps out of him but he would just get up and on with the game. Now the constant moaning and arguing has to a degree got on my nerves to be honest, he also gets knocked off the ball too easily.

I just can't see us selling to one of our rivals, which truly City are now, and the thought of all those little kid's who in around a months time will be walking around showing off their new shirt with the number 9 TORRES on the back.....LFC must be set to make a fortune from shirt sales and I would imagine Torres will be the best seller.

On the other hand is getting £60 million plus a bad thing? assuming the money goes back into the team with hopefully a new manager to spend it.

Come on, the kid can't have much imagination since his title "CTID" must stand for "Citeh Till I Die" and must be like seven or something so cut him some slack. Besides, who cares what their fans 'think', they win anything it will be purely down to money and even that has been mostly wasted so far, but if they throw enough money at it and still don't get anywhere then they'll be laughing stocks.

When they make an offer for what Torres is actually worth then they should come back, ask fergie how much he'd sell you Rooney for and that's how much we'll sell Citeh Torres for. I'm guessing the answer would be well over £100m or feck off, so is our's!

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has warned Manchester City that they have little chance of luring striker Fernando Torres away from Anfield.

City boss Roberto Mancini admitted he would be keen to sign the 26-year-old Spanish star if he became available.

Mancini said: "We are a top team and all top teams are interested in him."

Benitez responded by telling BBC Radio 5 live: "Fernando is happy at Liverpool and he wants to stay for a lot of years so I don't see any problem."

Torres is out for the rest of the season following knee surgery but is hoping to return in time to play for Spain in this summer's World Cup.

606: DEBATE
Liverpool will get the players Torres is looking for once the inevitable investment is made available to the manager

At the end of March, he dismissed rumours that he might be looking to leave Liverpool but underlined how important it will be for Benitez to be able to strengthen his squad after a season in which Liverpool have failed to mount a title challenge and were knocked out of the Champions League in the group stages.

Torres has scored 72 goals in 116 games for Liverpool since joining them from Atletico Madrid for a fee of around £20m in July 2007 and is idolised by Reds fans, but he has not won any major honours during his time at Anfield.

Like Benitez, Torres is under contract until 2014, but both of their futures have come under scrutiny because of the uncertainty over the club's financial strength while owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett try to sell up.

But Benitez says he is more concerned about his star striker's fitness than stories linking him with a move elsewhere.

The Reds boss added: "I think that Fernando will be OK and the main thing for him now is to recover and be ready for the World Cup.

"He has said from the start that he is very happy at Anfield, so hopefully he will be OK and can score a lot of goals for the club in the future."

City have been linked with Torres for several months and, although Mancini insists he has not thought about making a move for him, he mentioned the Spaniard as a potential target for the first time on Thursday at a press conference ahead of his side's trip to Arsenal on Saturday.

Fernando Torres is a fantastic striker but all the teams in Europe are interested in him

Man City boss Roberto Mancini

Mancini accepts City will face competition if they do make a bid for Torres, and thinks they will need to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League to have any chance of bringing him to Eastlands.

"Fernando Torres is a fantastic striker," Mancini said. "But all the teams in Europe are interested in him.

"We must get the rest of the matches out of the way first, then we will decide about other players.

"All the top players want to play in the Champions League. Next year we want to be a team who wins the Premier League. To do that we need top players."

FERNANDO TORRES fears having to live with the effects of chronic long-term injuries if he stays in the Premier League much longer.

The Liverpool striker has endured a season of knee problems and his campaign was cut short when he returned to Spain for surgery to make sure he is fit for the World Cup.
Torres, who scored 18 goals in 22 league games this term, can't believe how players like team-mate Steven Gerrard and other experienced stars like Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney have coped with the physical demands of English football for so long.
The Spaniard is worried that his body can only take so much punishment before leaving him to suffer the effects beyond the end of his career.

He said: "The Premier League is such a tough competition and I have always admired this championship and the players who are here.
"This is my third season and I'm still amazed to see Gerrard, Rooney and Lampard, players who have been here a long time, still playing at such a high level and with such impressive rhythm because the English league really wears down a player.
"I just can't imagine what state I'll be in within five or six years if I continue to play here - it could easily give me problems when I stop playing. The physical level is superior to all other countries."

The former Atletico Madrid striker is fancied to leave Anfield this summer if Liverpool fail to finish in the top four and deny him the chance of Champions League football next season.
They are all but out of the race and Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has already talked up the prospect of bringing the Spaniard to Eastlands.

This really worries me.

Right at the time the Liverpool faithful really need to hear the commitment of Torres and his passion for our great football club, he drops bombs such as "I'd never have come if it wasn't for Benitez" and his fears over long-term Premier League involvement.
I'd really like to trust Rafa when he says Torres is happy to stay at Anfield, but i just wonder where he'll be if Rafa does move to Juventus
